Three Tune Tuesday - Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark- Martin Cooper - Birthday boy #14 [En-Pt]

Welcome to my #TTT #ThreeTuneTuesday entry!

Good evening to all music lovers!

Today I'm here to tell you about a birthday boy by the name of Martin Cooper. Born on the first day of October 1958, the English painter and musician is the secondary keyboardist of a mythical band that ended up marking my generation, and in particular the one that preceded it.

Cooper was part of the band from 1980 to 1989 and was one of the composers of the famous single ‘Souvenir’, which I'm sharing with you here.

OMD are an English electronic music band formed in 1978... you see, the year I was born... look at the longevity of this project.

This band didn't initially have the support and affection of the critics, and was even criticised for lacking originality or having an uncool image. They hit the charts with the single ‘Enola Gay’, which at the time was essentially a song calling for an end to wars.

You've seen how, so many years later, this theme is unfortunately still relevant today.

The band's founders, Andy McCluskey and Paul Humphreys, met at primary school in Meols, England. During their teenage years they were strongly influenced by the electronic sound of Kraftwerk.

They took and raised the bar in electronic music, bringing a pop touch that will forever be associated with them.

Here I share with you three tracks I've chosen from their long and extensive list of songs. I hope you enjoy them. I invite you to go to one of the music streaming platforms, or even Youtube, and find out more about their other hits and revisit the 80s and 90s!

I hope you enjoyed this little musical flashback this week!

Cheers!
