#Three Tune Tuesday 2025.17.06 - Barry Manilow - Birthday boy #45 [Eng-Pt]
Welcome to my #TTT #ThreeTuneTuesday entry!
Good morning, everyone!
Welcome to another weekly edition of TTT! This week's birthday boy may not have told you anything when you read his name in the title of this publication. But as soon as you open one of the YouTube links I've shared here, you'll recognize his old hits.
Barry Alan Pincus was born exactly 82 years ago in the great city of New York and has become a singer, songwriter and music producer with a professional career spanning more than six decades!
Nowadays, if you think of musicians who have had such a long and productive career, you certainly won't think of that many names.
He has sold more than 60 million copies over the decades.
He learned to play the piano and accordion through lessons at a neighbor's house. He was still living in Brooklyn when he decided to make music his profession. He was eventually admitted to the New York School of Music, working as a janitor at CBS and using his salary to pay the bills.
In 1964 he was asked by Bro Herrod, one of the directors of CBS, to arrange some songs for an adaptation of a play called “The Drunkard”. Instead of just arranging the music, Manilow wrote a complete soundtrack. The director then used the composition Barry had given him for the musical “Off Broadway”, and it stayed on stage for eight consecutive years!
He also worked as a composer for some of the best-known jingles used at the time (1960s) for television.
He was acclaimed as one of the most recognizable artists during the following years, where he took many singles to the top of the best-selling charts. Some of these hits were not written by him, but his vocal delivery and performance meant that they immediately became a song that would be played several times on national radio stations.
Did you know this artist? I hope you enjoyed this week's sharing.
Cheers🍀

Barry Manilow is one of my favorite singers, from my teenage years. A voice like no other. I like all his melodies. Your musical selection brought back a lot of memories.
@xrayman Thank you for sharing.
I leave you one of my favorites as well as Mandy. It's called "I Write the Songs".

Thanks, Mafalda for your comment!
As I said in my post, Barry wasn't an artist I naturally thought of choosing for my post. And that's what I like to do, try to find out who the birthdays of the day are, and then I'll do a little research into their repertoire. And in this case, as in many others before, I was extremely pleased with the quality of the artist! He is indeed a gentleman who has left and is still leaving his mark on the musical world!
Thank you for your suggestion! I loved the musicality that leaves anyone listening to the track with a smile on their lips. What an excellent artist!
