The fear of alienation - CCC's Street Art Contest #148

Good afternoon to the whole Street Art Fans community!

Welcome to my entry for the #148 competition!

Today I want to share here a little bit controversial subject.... We often find that being able to adapt to the adverse situations that come our way on a daily basis is an advantage. Without a shadow of a doubt it is a great advantage. However, we must always remain convinced of our beliefs and our values. Recently, and on a short walk to my gym, I came across this mural, which was until recently obscured by tall trees and vegetation, which made it impossible to see it from the main road.

You can see from this photo of the time of its inauguration, that the colours were very bright and brought out the chameleon caricatured as the UN.

This graffiti made by Andre Tarli already in 2016, is now precisely 13 years old! It reveals a concern of the "modern world"... the fact that we take a position, and stick to it. It may seem that in this case the allegory of an ambiguous position is the desire or ambition for extended protection, where that protection changes according to the aggressor, but in this day and age, the world can no longer be categorized that way. Unity, in this case, may be essential for the survival and independence of a region, people or culture. It is certain and known that many wars do not have a just and an unjust starting point, but many times, we as observers are confronted with multiple and continuous aggressions, to the detriment of a desire to subjugate a people, or to conquer a territory that was not bequeathed or attributed to them, justifying everything and for everything the most atrocious aggressions and decisions. Not wishing to enter the field of politics, I can only hope that one of my oldest and most "childish" wishes and desires for World Peace may one day be achieved. For it is certain that this will unfortunately never happen, because just like a coin that has two sides, a wall also has two separate realities.

The difference must be respected, but it cannot be forced. Someone who does not want to belong to a group should not be forced and violated, disrupting their entire social, financial, economic and environmental structure, only to be subjugated.

And to end this post beautifully, I will share with you a song that I remember very often, and that marked during my childhood and adolescence.

The song speaks of a fear of alienation that arises in us when we take sides, or move away from what the majority thinks or acts.
This song Por Rock, from 1983 by Culture Club, and winner of the Brit Award for Best Selling Single, is indeed mythical, and I always fell good to hear when nostalgia threatens to invade our spirit.

A good week to you all, and I apologize once again for the topic addressed, but I can't stay silent with such violence coming through our homes and mobile phones on a daily basis.
