#Monomad Challenge - Life is just one... this one and no other...
Good afternoon, #Monomad friends
This Sunday, many things weren't planned.... In the middle of the week, I heard the sad news that an elderly friend had collapsed... Today was the day of his funeral. The ceremony took place at the Vale de Flores cemetery in Almada. The man was not a believer, so the ceremony was very simple, with no religious celebration, just a funeral with cremation. Despite the sterility of the moment, many people gathered to pay their well-deserved respects to the excellent person he was. He was an outspoken person who had no problem saying things and politely confronting those he disagreed with. Even so, he was always willing to help anyone who came to him, or even anyone he saw who needed his help, or whose opinion could help improve their performance.
One Sunday, when it wasn't summer, I crossed the bridge to get to Almada... Hot land, and just on the other side of the river. The crossing went smoothly, and as I was hitchhiking, I took the opportunity to notice more of the details of the route and to meditate a little on my life.
Several ideas came to mind.... In particular, the idea of what I want to be to those around me.
Do we live life with the idea that we might not be here tomorrow? The idea of the finiteness of our existence turns out to be something that isn't always present. And perhaps for good reason. Imagine what it would be like to constantly see ourselves as counting down... It could cause such a block in us that we wouldn't even be able to think of what to do next.
I apologize for the somewhat dark subject, but it's something we're all sure to go through... There's no reason to be afraid, it's just another stage in our lives. And in this case, our last stage.
So we have to enjoy life while we're here, as my friend pardinus, says so well.
Here are a few photos I took while crossing the 25 de Abril bridge earlier this afternoon... a city asleep in a late fog over the waters of the Tagus. May this awareness be born in us and make us decide to always give the best version of ourselves to those around us, and to ourselves.
Here's a perfect song for the day I had today...
I hope you enjoyed my post here in the B&W community
