Coco, El perro de agua español - Coco, the Spanish Water Dog
Welcome to my first post in this Hive Pets community.
Today I want to share with you some photos I took of a breed that until then I didn't know about, or at least I didn't remember seeing it live and in color. The Spanish Water Dog. Created for the purpose, as the name suggests, of searching for prey in small waterways, like the Labrador Retriever, since its inception it has been selected to accompany shepherds, especially in Galicia. This particular specimen, our good-natured and always ready to play Coco, lives on the fantastic island of Tenerife, where I've already shared some of the fantastic moments I've spent there. Coco is the dog of the brother-in-law of a good friend of mine. And it's practically impossible not to fall in love with him straight away. His long coat, which naturally forms braids, reminds me of Bob Marley's braids, right? Ahahah They help protect him from the natural elements, thistles and thorny vegetation, as well as allowing him to mingle with livestock without being easily detected by intruders or other animals.
He has a docile temperament and is always aware of his surroundings. In this particular case, he knows more than 20 words, which his owner has very patiently taught him over the years.
As you can see from the photos I'm sharing here, the biggest difficulty we have is getting a good photo without any movement, because this dog only stops when he's asleep, and only when he doesn't smell his owner... otherwise he'll wake up in no time, and from an apparent inactivity, he'll be running around for over an hour, without a break!
This little guy even has an Instagram page, which I'll share here. In the meantime, and since last year, my friend has acquired another of this breed, this time called Mango!
