CCC's Street Art Contest #291 "Edgar Edterno" - DISH, Linda-a-Velha, Portugal [Eng-Pt]
Good morning, friends!
Welcome to another sharing in the Street Art community, were we can see everything without paying anything... All we have to do is let ourselves be carried away by curiosity!
And I confess that this work aroused my curiosity. Markedly characterized by an almost monochromatic choice of colors, it nevertheless took creativity to another level. This building, as I have already mentioned in other posts in this community, is located in a densely forested area, almost integrated into Jamor Park.
But it's not just the colors of the work that are intriguing... I confess that I only noticed some of the details when I saw the photos I had taken with my cell phone on a larger screen. Some details that hadn't caught my attention, and others that I had seen, now seemed even more interesting.
I know that this work must have been created in honor of a man named Edgar, who must have been someone who was very dear to the local community. It almost seems like a memorial in the form of graffiti. The work done by DISH, whose other works I have shared here before, highlights a feeling of longing, even using his name in conjunction with the word tenderness, forming the word “Edterno” and giving it a greater magnitude than the work itself. One phrase stands out in this work, which I don't know if it was originally like that or if it was purposely changed. Currently, we can clearly read “Meaning only has to make sense to you.”
And if we took that phrase as a motto for our lives, I think we would be much happier. It's no more than that. We don't have to look for meaning in things to be attributed by other people. Only we have to make it meaningful to us. Which means that the opposite is also true. Something that makes sense to others does not necessarily have to be important or relevant to us. Don't you think?
Here are some other works by DISH that I shared previously:
Boa dia, amigos!
