Always try to be the one receiving the advice

We often look at the advice giver as someone who is wiser. But that's not always the case. Sometimes it's the one who receives advice, and not the one who asks for it (because there's a big difference), who ends up being wiser.

Being in a position where we look inward for what can inspire us is much more rewarding than trying to be a source of inspiration for others. The big difference ends up being a much more inflexible stance, when we are more concerned with being an example than truly learning from what we see on a daily basis.

Our attitude should not be one of just consuming what we think might be best to help us, but on the other hand, we should try to find things that lead us to make decisions, to form opinions.

It's not always the case that those we think are the best mentors have the answers to our problems. It starts with everyone having their own vision of their problems. So whatever solution someone else comes up with may not be the right one.

The fact that we go through the process of integrating external and internal signals, and that we look for a solution ourselves, strengthens the internal resilience system.

Nowadays, we are very focused on the solutions that seem to be the fastest, most effective or simplest (be amazed!). But we will never know if what has worked for others will work for us. Any video you see online, where the person talking is presenting themselves as the one who will show you the true path, may not be.

Looking for solutions to what we think are our problems is not the most effective. It's as if we wanted to reach a destination, from a location, and were transported to that destination. We won't understand the process that led us there, let alone whether that is in fact the final destination... The search process is therefore very important.

If we look within ourselves to identify our problem, or what we want to change, we end up already doing an exercise that will lead us to greater self-knowledge.

Fast-paced life, the rush of activity, social networks that spew out information faster than man has ever experienced... All this information, this avalanche of opinions, videos and facts that are constantly presented to us as the true panacea for any problem we may have, leads to a false sense of security on the outside and greater fragility on the inside. We end up trusting more in someone who is external, and that ends up discrediting us in our own eyes.

However, I'm not saying that we shouldn't seek help from others. What we should do is not always depend on others to solve our problems.

I hope you enjoyed my short daily reflection.

Cheers🍀

Yes, you have to be able to make decisions and find solutions on your own... I think we've become more and more dependent on our phones or computers. And with AI it's even worse, no thought is required, just ask.

Have a great day
