My Performance at the Integrated Arts and Culture Showcase @ SESC Palladium, Belo Horizonte/MG, Brazil

Last Wednesday, I had the opportunity to live an unforgettable experience when I performed at the Integrated Arts and Culture Showcase of Sesc Minas, held at the impressive Sesc Palladium in Belo Horizonte. Stepping onto that huge stage — probably one of the largest I’ve ever been on — was, in itself, an emotional moment. But everything became even more meaningful as part of the singing/choral group, which presented the theme of territoriality, exploring our roots, affections, and musical paths.

Our performance was a special tribute to the father of our vocal coach, Nirlene, who was also a musician and recently passed away. The artistic and human legacy he left for her — and that she now shares with us — guided every note, every movement, every collective breath. Singing in memory of someone who spread music into the lives of so many people brought a beautiful and profound emotional weight to the stage.

During the 15-minute performance, we integrated seven carefully selected songs to build this affective narrative. I participated directly in six of them: I sang in three and played tantan in another three. It was a delightful challenge that pulled me out of my comfort zone and made me experience music in new ways. Switching between vocal performance and percussion allowed me to feel the energy of the group and the audience in a completely different way.

Everything was truly special: the sound, the lights, the size of the theater, the energy of my colleagues, the atmosphere of celebration, and the deep respect for the memory that inspired us.

Na última quarta-feira, tive a oportunidade de viver uma experiência inesquecível ao me apresentar na Mostra Integrada de Arte e Cultura do Sesc Minas, realizada no imponente Sesc Palladium, em Belo Horizonte. Subir naquele palco enorme — provavelmente um dos maiores em que já estive — foi, por si só, um momento emocionante. Mas tudo ganhou ainda mais sentido por fazer parte do grupo de canto/coral, que levou para o evento o tema territorialidade, explorando nossas raízes, afetos e caminhos musicais.

Nossa apresentação foi uma homenagem especial ao pai da nossa professora de canto, Nirlene, que também era músico e faleceu recentemente. O legado artístico e humano que ele deixou para ela, e que agora ela compartilha conosco, guiou cada nota, cada movimento, cada respiração coletiva. Cantar em memória de alguém que plantou música na vida de tantas pessoas trouxe um peso emocional bonito e profundo para o palco.

Durante os 15 minutos de apresentação, integramos sete canções cuidadosamente selecionadas para construir essa narrativa afetiva. Eu participei diretamente de seis delas: cantei em três e toquei tantan em outras três. Foi um desafio delicioso, que me tirou da zona de conforto e me fez experimentar a música de maneiras novas. Alternar entre a interpretação vocal e a percussão me permitiu sentir a energia do grupo e do público de forma completamente diferente.

Tudo foi muito especial: o som, as luzes, o tamanho do teatro, a vibração dos colegas, o clima de celebração e respeito à memória que nos inspirou.
