City lights dance - PhotoFeed Contest - Street Photography Round 118

Last night, I decided to go for a walk through the downtown area of my city with my phone in hand and a specific intention: to play with time and light.

The photos I’m sharing here were taken using the long exposure technique, one of my favorite styles in photography. This technique allows you to capture the movement of light over time, turning cars into glowing streaks and revealing an almost ethereal side of the city that often goes unnoticed in the rush of everyday life.

The result is what we call light painting – a painting made with light. It’s as if the streets become a living canvas, where every headlight and reflection leaves its mark.

I love this kind of photography because it lets me see the city in a different way. It’s like watching haste turn into poetry.

Ontem à noite, resolvi sair para caminhar pelo centro da minha cidade com a meu celular em mãos e um desejo específico: brincar com o tempo e com a luz.

As fotos que compartilho aqui foram feitas usando a técnica de longa exposição, um dos meus estilos preferidos dentro da fotografia. Essa técnica permite capturar o movimento da luz ao longo do tempo, transformando carros em riscos brilhantes e revelando um lado quase etéreo da cidade que passa despercebido no corre-corre do cotidiano.

O resultado é o que chamamos de light painting – uma pintura feita com luz. É como se as ruas se tornassem uma tela viva, onde cada farol e cada reflexo deixam seu traço.

Eu amo esse tipo de fotografia porque ela me permite enxergar a cidade de uma forma diferente. É como se a pressa ganhasse poesia.
