"I Got the Wrong Car!" || "Me equivoqué de auto!" [Eng/Esp]

When I left the supermarket, it was already dark and the parking lot lights barely lit the way. With the bags in my hands and my mind elsewhere, I walked straight to my car—or so I thought.

There it was, just like always: silver, a Citroën, parked in the usual spot. I tried to open the trunk, but it didn’t unlock. I figured maybe the remote battery had died. So I put the bags on the ground, took out the key, and tried to open it manually.

That’s when I noticed something strange… the license plate didn’t match.

I looked to my left—and there it was: my car. Identical model, same color… but the real one. I laughed to myself, surprised at my own mistake. I picked up my bags, tried to act natural in case someone had seen my "attempted robbery," and got into the right car.

That night, besides getting what I needed, I walked away with a new story: be careful with silver Citroëns… sometimes they multiply.

Cuando salí del supermercado, ya era de noche y las luces del estacionamiento iluminaban apenas lo suficiente. Con las bolsas en la mano y la cabeza en otra parte, caminé directamente hacia mi auto. O eso creía.

Lo vi ahí, como siempre: plateado, Citroën, estacionado en el mismo sector de siempre. Abrí el baúl, pero no se destrabó. Pensé que quizás el control remoto se había quedado sin batería. Entonces, puse la bolsa en el piso, saqué la llave y traté de abrir manualmente.

Fue ahí cuando me di cuenta de algo raro… la matrícula no coincidía.

Miré a la izquierda, y ahí estaba mi auto. Idéntico, mismo modelo, mismo color… solo que era el verdadero. Me reí solo, como quien se sorprende de su propio despiste. Recogí mis cosas, disimulé un poco por si alguien había visto mi "robo frustrado", y me fui al auto correcto.

Esa noche, además de comprar lo que necesitaba, me llevé una anécdota más: cuidado con los Citroën plateados... a veces se multiplican.
