Hello! Happy Weekend! I hope y'all are having plenty of rest this weekend. I don't know what to say because it's been a while since I wrote about my weekend life here. But I really, really, really, really miss doing this! I'm writing a blog post about what I usually do on weekends, sharing some experiences that I know many of you can relate to, and answering some questions and topics from Galen and posting it here.
During the past months that I have not been here, there have been times that I have complained because I don't have time to write a blog. Like, even on the weekend, I need to help my sister take care of my nephew. But now, finally! I can write and read blogs now. I have time because I decided to focus on taking care of myself rather than focusing on other people.
And you know what? There are things that have helped me cope with my mental health struggles. One of those things is reading a book. But it wasn’t a physical book I could carry everywhere—I just downloaded it and read it on my tablet. You know the e-books? It was a soft copy of some popular books. I don't know if I can share it here—the website where I download e-books. So, I think we can skip that part?
Anyway, last Thursday, I just came back here and waited for the weekend to come. Hopefully, this week’s Weekend Engagement topic here, hosted by Galen, is something I can actually write about. I don't know if my mind and destiny are in sync (OA mode). But last week, I was also planning to read the book I've wanted to read ever since I downloaded it this weekend.
But before I talk about what this book is, let me share with you my e-book collections that I downloaded.

Are you familiar with these books? I know people who read those, and they said that it was a good read because you will learn a lot about "life," but I couldn't afford to buy a physical book. So, I just searched if there are some e-books of these books, and I am glad because they have! My reading journey has been full of ups and downs. Sometimes I start a book but can’t finish it because I’m too busy, and when I finally have the time, I still struggle to focus—I try to read, but my mind is occupied with other things.
But like what I said above, finally, I have time for myself now, and I can read a book again.

So, the book that I am talking about is this book: "The Courage to Be Disliked: A Japanese Phenomenon That Shows You How to Change Your Life and Achieve Real Happiness" by Ichiro Kishimi and Fumitake Koga.

The question that I choose for this weekend engagement topic is this:

2. What book are you reading this weekend and why?

You can also choose yours @ Weekend-Engagement Topics #271 blog post by Galenkp

There are 32 e-books that I downloaded. But why is this the book that I wanted to read for this weekend? At first, I thought about reading "What I wish I knew when I was 20: A crash course on making your place in the world" by Tina Seelig. But have you been in the position of feeling like you wouldn't enjoy the book that you are reading if you don't feel like actually reading it? I was in that situation just earlier today. I was supposed to read Tina Seelig's book, but because I really liked to read that book even before when I just downloaded it, I decided to read it for this weekend's chill.

Why did I choose this book to read?

It was the words ‘courage’ and ‘disliked’ that caught my attention. Reading the title made me curious about how I could find the courage to be okay with being disliked by other people. I thought that would be the lesson I’d gain from reading it.

Images are from my own Screenshot while Reading.

I grabbed a screenshot of the author’s note so you can get a feel for what the book is about.

What I like about this book is that it is not boring. Because it’s written in a dialogue between a philosopher and a young man, and I found it interesting because the young man represents me in many ways, since some of the scenarios in the book mirror my own life and include questions I’ve always wanted answered. That’s also why I felt challenged, even burned, by the philosopher’s way of responding.

Reading it made me think that this book is the thing I wanted most in my life. If only I already knew about this book, I wouldn't ask some questions in the air, I wouldn't keep my thoughts inside my head, and I wouldn't think things that I shouldn't.

Anyway, while I also read this book, I was eating a Fruit Cocktail Graham earlier. Yesterday, our younger cousin ordered snacks from her teacher, and they were delivered today, and she gave me this one~ It was perfect timing because I was reading a book earlier and had something to eat while doing so. ❤️

So, this is the book I’ve chosen to read this weekend. I hope I can finish reading it so that my mind will refresh and declutter negative thoughts and learn some words of wisdom.

You're indeed a reader I can see, I used to be one before I start having children, now any opportunity I get is to rest, no time for reading like before. Thank you for sharing.

Ehhh, you really like reading books too ha. This kind of book is really cool, esp if you'll get something out from it na effective to your mental health. 8 know its good pero bat diko talaga nakahiligan, I hate myself for that. I tried it one pero diko kinaya haha. Nakakadugo din kasi ng nose, lol. Anyways, at least you are enjoying this. If its good for you then you should go for it. Ang bet ko lang here is yong part na kumakain ka while reading. Penge akooooo, 🤤🤤✨

I don't like reading books too dati. But since, they said na books are also a Therapy, I tried to read some pero like you, nakakatulugan ko rin siya nung una o di pumapasok sa utak ko binabasa ko. But now, I found the right book for me. Before, I read Wattpadbooks lang. Now yung may lesson naman sa life lol

Akala mo talaga pasko no? Nakakain nalang Graham ng kahit anong araw mga bata ngayon. 😂 Lika na!
