Have you ever heard of the word Whey? or Whey protein milk? I also just learned the name Whey since starting to lift weights, which at first I thought it was a type of drug that can increase muscle mass during exercise, but I was wrong. In this post, I will provide information about Whey Protein along with its uses and side effects for the human body if consumed in excess. Hopefully, it can be valuable and useful for all of us.
Previously I discussed several types of essential and non-essential amino acids which you can read in my previous post, or just click on the link below.
About Whey Protein
Whey protein has become one of the supporting supplements in the world of sports, especially fitness, lifting weights people or athletes because it can help sports performance and increase protein synthesis in the body.
Whey is an amino acid or protein content contained in cow's milk, produced as a by-product in the cheese-making process which is separated from fat and produces protein containing essential amino acids. The substances of essential amino acids like leucine, isoleucine, and valine in whey protein has a function in protein synthesis, recovery soreness, boost metabolism and help to grow muscles. Some of the benefits of consuming Whey protein include helping recovery after lifting weights, when exercising using weights we are destroying muscle tissue which will later be rebuilt, to smooth the recovery process requires adequate protein intake, and using Whey protein is the right way to get a source of essential amino acids easily.
Protein or amino acids is an important nutrient for maintaining muscle mass, metabolism, and helping to suppress hunger without depriving the body of energy. It is recommended for those who are on a diet to meet protein needs. Please read the rules of use before consuming whey to avoid excess or misuse. Some Whey proteins may contain lactose or gluten which can cause side effects like stomach ache, bloating or diarrhea for users who are allergic to these ingredients. Consult a doctor or pharmacist to be safer and to get valid information before using Whey Protein products, because if an error occurs Whey protein use can have adverse effects that endanger health.
When making cheese, the milk will separate into curds and whey.
Cottage cheese has both the curds and whey together. For that matter Cottage Cheese is often called curds and whey. It is the favorite food of the famed arachnophobe Little Miss Muffett.
The liquid that separates out from yogurt is whey. Greek Yogurt is processed twice to remove all the whey. I prefer yogurt with the whey.
