The second Part of My Three pieced Project.

Hello everyone ✨

A lovely Monday to everyone who comes across this article. It is once again a pleasure to share my needlework in the #needleworkmonday community. For today, I would be sharing the second piece of my three piece project.

After making this piece, I decided that I was going to add a crochet beret as a bonus piece if I had left over yarn. A few days ago, I made a crochet beret and I totally love the beret. I thought of making it in as many colours as possible. Also, adding it to my three piece set wouldn't be so much of a bad idea. What do you think?

I mentioned in this post that I was working on a three piece crochet clothing outfit. The first part of the outfit was the gloves which I enjoyed making. The second part however is the top I would be sharing with you today.

IMG_20230818_192836_620~2.jpg

I saw this top online while scrolling through the pinterest app and I immediately loved it. The design is quite eye catchy but what drew me to it was the complexity. I thought to myself that making such a top would be quite the challenge and I love taking up challenges. With that, I set out to make the top.

IMG_20230817_150612_587~2.jpg

I started from the bottom to the top. I didn't want the top to be too much of a crop top so I increased the length. For the body of the top, I used half double crochet stitches and for the neck, I used the front post and back post stitches.

At first, I didn't like using the front and back post stitches because they involved lots of twisting and turning but this project made me fall in love with the stitches. I like how it gives the top a ribbing effect. I wanted to go for a turtle neck but on second thought, I realised that adding a turtle neck would spoil the beauty of the top.

The most tasking part of this project was making a little opening at the chest area. I didn't divide the parts into two; this means that I worked in a circular pattern. Working in a circular pattern isn't one of my strong points, yet😌. Sometimes, I miss a stitch and this causes the project to take another shape. For this project, I made mistakes but these mistakes kept me going.

After loosening and starting over about two times, I finally got a hang of it. The shape at the chest is supposed to be a polygon with six sides; a hexagon. I think it looks partially like a hexagon as the edges aren't really pointy.

Eventually, I finished making the top. It took about four days. I tried it on and I was pleased with my work. I didn't have to struggle to get in and the top fit perfectly too. Pure bliss.

Was the process challenging? Yes. But was it worth it in the end, yes very much. I love the way the top goes with the gloves. The 'elegant' look I had in mind at the beginning of this project is slowly materialising. Yay!

That is it for the top. I hope I finish up with the last part soon enough so that I can share it here. In the meantime, I would love to hear your thoughts and suggestions on this project.

Awesome!!! Love the combination and the pattern, even if it didn't turn out pointy as you wanted it to, I think it still looks great with rounder edges. Adding the/a beret? Yess😍
