The Picnic That Defied Expectations.
Memories are meant to be made and so I make them. The good ones retain the name memories while the terrible memories are given the tag experiences sometimes. One of the many unforgettable memories I've shared with loved ones happened in March this year. We had an amazing picnic before a few others joined us.
My best friend, who is also a crochet artist, suggested that we gather other crocheters in our city for a picnic. The idea behind the picnic was to get to know each other better and everything was set in motion. A link was put out inviting other crocheters to join a particular group where we discussed the idea. Over 70% of the crocheters therein agreed to this idea and some of us were even included in the planning committee. The time and date was set and for a minute, we thought we had it all under control.
On said day, I wasn't able to make it on time but my best friend did. I kept asking her for updates because she was already there but she was being a bit evasive so I assumed she either wanted to surprise me with the massive turnout or there was no turn out at all. I thought the latter wasn't even an option because everyone on the group chat seemed really pumped and hyped up.
I got to the picnic venue about two hours late with one other friend and some of the edibles I had stopped to pick up and *my oh my, what did we have there! Emptiness. I laughed so hard because there was nothing else to do.
Seeing my best friend sit so innocently in the middle of a very big field while working on a crochet project was yet another hilarious sight to behold. Had she pursued the rest of the crocheters? Or did they get the location wrong? I asked her, but even she didn't have any answers for me. The friend I arrived with came with a mat, so we set up the place and began our picnic proper. It was fun and intimate.
The three of us utilized this opportunity to talk about the crochet industry and our individual plans for our brands. We discussed life in general and did I mention that we ate? We ate a whole lot! because there was no way in the world we were going to let all those snacks waste (ps: I ended up with a stomach ache because of too much sugar but it was nothing worth panicking about). It was on the same day I got to build a stronger relationship with the new friend. The amazing lady was such a comedian who made me laugh so hard throughout her stay there.
This picnic was slated for 1pm because we planned that by 4pm, we would be rounding up. I arrived around 3pm and about three hours later, when I was getting ready to return home, three other crocheters showed up together. Courtesy demanded that I stay a bit longer, introduce myself and make new friends, so I did. Around 7pm, my best friend and I took our leave. That wasn't an epic fail but it's a day we wouldn't forget in a hurry, I remember saying to my best friend on our way back home.

Wow, I can't believe they won't show up after you guys agreed and everything was planned out.
It's heart-warming how the three of you who showed up make the day count.
Truly, it's a sweet memory you won't forget in a hurry.
Certainly 😊
Nice picnic - with few participants. 😊
I think alone the fact that you could build a closer relationship with the 'comedian' means it was worth it to join the event!
It was truly worth it✨

I will flog you for going late oo😃, imagine two hours late sef..kilode, lol, but the good part was that the picnic went just fine and you bonded with your new friend . Really a memorable one💞
😂😂
Something came up.
Thank you✨
Your best friend stayed - she is a real trouper. Although you were disappointed that there were only 3 of you - bonding with each other was easier than with a bigger group. Now you have a new friend and an unforgettable memory.
