Strive To Be An Overflowing Cup.

We display an array of emotions every single day and well some are extremely genuine and are seldom faked, like pain, others can be acted out. One emotion I find people outing out very frequently these days is love.

I believe that we can only genuinely love anything or anyone else after we've truly and purely loved ourselves. For this illustration, I usually use a cup: once you've filled a cup to the brim with love, it starts to pour out and flow to the things around it. This basically applies to humans too. This emotion doesn't only apply to romantic partners and as such, every single day, we get the opportunity to show love to the living things around us.

I usually say that one can spot a loveless person–by loveless, I mean those who do not love themselves–from a mile away because it always shows, irrespective of how hard they try to hide it. It can manifest as low self-esteem, people pleasing, lack of personal boundaries, seeking constant validation from people, tolerance of poor/bad treatment, poor self care and even self sabotaging. All of these stem from a place of lack of self-worth. Only a person who truly knows themselves and what they are worth can stand their grounds in the face of these manifestations. The worst set of people are those who find it difficult to accept compliments and not in the joking “don't mention” kind of way. These people grow very mad and irritated when a compliment they never thought they'd receive in a million years comes their way.

This particular lady who has a recurring case of halitosis (bad breath) was spotted yelling profoundly and making a fuss on campus. Not too long after this, she walked away from the young man she was supposedly on a stroll with. The story that got out was that he had complimented her breath that evening because she probably did something to treat or manage the halitosis but she wasn't having it. She accused the young man of mocking and embarrassing her, before storming out. Now, this begs the question why? Why act out so loudly in public when you could have easily just said “thank you, I've started a treatment regime to curb it. I guess it's working” or something along those lines?

Instead of loving one's self enough to work on apprehending their insecurities or for those with permanent insecurities, working to accept them, some people capitalize on these insecurities and use every slight opportunity to make a fuss.

I found a deeply meaningful song that describes bits and pieces of what love truly is but in Spanish.Disfruto by Carla Morrison. Initially, I was drawn to this song because of its soothing instrumentals and how calming the lyrics were even when I didn't know what the words meant. When I saw a transcription of the song, I liked it even more.

I hope you enjoy listening to this piece as you work on loving yourself deeply. Then, and only then can you extend this love to the people, animals and even plants around you.

I absolutely agree with you @wongi. Love is the most abused affection ever, and it because people have failed to understand the act of self-love.
