Eeny Meeny Miny Music to My Ears: My Go-To Music Device(s).
I see music as a universal language that connects us all but how we experience it can be very different. One’s favourite song may be the song another person skips or barely listens to–different strokes for different folks. However, I believe that the device we use while listening to songs, irrespective of what activity we are carrying out, wildly shapes the vibe at that moment. For a brief moment, let's dive into my listening experience and my thoughts on these music devices.
The Everyday Companion
I barely go anywhere without my earpods and on days I do, I feel some type of way. In the world we live in, there's bound to be unnecessary chaos and noise and my best bet for escaping these unpleasant sceneries is using my earpods. This is why I'll always thank the heavens for the noise cancellation feature on some earpods being produced these days.
Aside from the fact that they aid in noise cancellation, earpods are very light weight, making them easy to carry around. They come in handy for quick listening sessions, wherever and whenever.
The only problem I once had was trying to differentiate earbuds from earpods because a majority of the former always fit snugly into my ears but with the latter, it's a tug of war.
Wired Earpiece
This used to be my favourite until I got a feel of earbuds. Nonetheless, an original wired earpiece is such a joy bringer. This set of music aids will always have a place in my heart not only because of their music emitting property but their superhero property too. On a few occasions, a wired earpiece has saved my mobile device from a water bath and pots of meals.
This same superhero quality poses as a con with the wired earpiece because it limits movements when handy activities are being carried out and on days when I am wearing a dress with no pockets, it gets very uncomfortable.
Headphones
I grew up loving headphones. It got to a point where headphones were the first thing I mentioned when I was asked which gift I wanted. I was well on my way to amassing tons of headphones when a friend of mine reported to the hospital because of an ear infection that was worsened by excessive use of headphones. At the time, I believed the headphones had single handedly caused the infection and so I started withdrawing.
Inasmuch as I love the experience of music blasting directly into my eardrums while I consciously ignore the world around me, I have a really low threshold for pressure on my head and every single headphone I came across had this effect until I came in contact with a friend’s wireless ‘Havit Headphone’. This headphone literally blew my mind as it possessed all the qualities I believe a headphone should possess; the quality of the sound emitted is top notch(deep bass), the headphone is very light and exerts no pressure on the head, It also has a long lasting battery life with noise cancelling abilities. If I wasn't so far gone, I may have considered adding one more headphone to my collection.
Loudspeakers
Or boomboxes like I like to call them are my second favourite music devices. My current loudspeaker was a gift from a dear friend and I love everything about it. Blasting music on the highest volume, especially during a group hangout, has a way of bringing life to the gathering. Even though it isn't always on the highest volume, I use loudspeakers for almost all the handy activities I carry out on a daily basis; chores, movies, crocheting, you name it. And this is simply because music sounds way better on good loudspeakers.
My mood plays a major part in the type of music device I use at the end of the day, but one music aid you'd always find on me are my earpods. In response to the question for this week, I would say it solely depends on the occasion and the mood. There are activities that just feel better with loud music and the others? Not so much. As such, It's a mix of everything for me.
Images belong to me and were taken with my mobile device except stated otherwise.

I own two pairs of wired headphones, one pair of wireless headphones. One pair of Samsung Earbuds that are (fancy) one pair of waterproof over ear wireless ear plugs for the gym, and countless other bits of audio equipment.
My favourite earbuds are probably my Etymotic earplugs that I wear to concerts, because through them, it is truly the closest I'll ever get to the music, when seeing a band live :)
Now that's a vast collection of music devices. For someone who believes in exploring different audio equipment, I admire your collection.
I've heard quite a lot about etymotic earplugs but I've never seen one.
I have a pair that look like this (Actually, its my second set!) They are amazing for concerts, as they reduce the loudness, which means you can hear the performance with a bit more clarity (the added advantage is you're not damaging your hearing.
The biggest benefit I've found of them is dulling out the sound of a screaming crowd. They work not just for the loudspeakers. Every time I take them off after a concert, I have to come to terms with just how loud the world is. :D
There's a certain joy in silence, otherwise music filling it wouldn't make it special.
This is a huge advantage. I think I like the etymotic earplugs even better now.
I don’t know why but it made me happy that you understand not every activity needs loud music so you know when to balance it. Some people just blast their speakers without even putting that into consideration.
Interestingly, I've learnt to cope with such people.
✨🤍
I totally understand.
The current mood and situation define the device we use to enjoy music.
Certainly
This was such a fun read. I totally relate to switching between music devices based on mood and activity. Earpods are my everyday ride-or-die too, they're just so convenient. And that bit about wires earpiece saving phones from disaster? Been there.
Also, headphones giving pressure headache is so real, I've had to ditch some few for that reason.
Loved how you broke it down with personal stories, it made the post super relatable
I'm really glad you enjoyed your read 😊
