DIY Pom Pom Bag Accessory.

Today, I'll be sharing with you how I made pom poms as a bag accessory. Accessorising bags, especially totes can transform a simple look into something exceptional. I chose to experiment with pom pom accessories on one of the tote bags I purchased from a vendor, and these are the steps I followed.

Materials Needed

🤍 Some yarn
🤍 A pom pom maker
🤍 A pair of scissors
🤍 A picking tool
🤍 A tore bag.

Procedures

First, I gathered all the materials I would be using. This was just to ensure that I didn't spend more time making pom poms than I should.

Also, bless the heart of whoever invented these pom pom makers because this tool makes the job a lot easier.

To make the pom poms, I start by placing two pom poms tools side by side and then proceeding to wrap my yarn on each side.

I make a total of 50 wraps on each side of the pom pom tool (25 if you're using double strands). This is the pattern that determines how thick and full or how light and scanty the pom pom will turn out to be. If you want a fuller pom pom, then you'd have to wrap some more yarn and vice versa.

After wrapping the yarn on both sides, I close up the tool and secure it with the stopper.

Then, I proceed to cut the round edges in half. I do this on each side.

Next, I cut off a piece of yarn with which I would tie the pom pom. I'd advise that the yarn is long enough to enable easy tying.

With the yarn, I go round my pom pom tool and tie firmly(to prevent your pom pom from easily coming loose) .

After securely tying the pom pom, I gently unlock the pom pom tool and take it off.

I go ahead to give the pom pom a nice trim. Some people can call it a day here because technically, a pom pom has been made. But I like to attempt loosening each strand of yarn to give the pom pom a more seamless look.

A fine-tooth comb can be used for this or a picker. I used both. After minutes of calmly picking each pom pom, I trim them once again, give them good rolls and my pom poms are ready.

The last part just entails tying them up in rows and then fastening it on the tote bag.

I'm pleased with how the bag accessory turned out. Also, since the tote has some specks of purple, the purple accessory perfectly compliments the bag. Additionally, I believe I chose the right colour because purple goes very well with the rest of my tote bags.
