Crowns off to Heads of State.
Two heads are better than one.
Movies are one of my ultimate escape hatches from reality, especially on days when I feel overwhelmed, tired or just want to unwind after a stressful period. Nothing beats watching a great film that fully envelops your mind, letting you focus solely on the story without a single stray thought. The best movies for me are those that teach me a thing or two, regardless of genre, cast or whatever else people look for in movies. That being said, I learned quite a lot from movies this year.

There were so many good movies released this year. This year happened to be the year where I fully embraced series and seasonal movies. Setting my initial reservations aside, many of the series I watched this year were actually really good ones. Today, in response to the prompt here, I'll be talking about a single movie that I somewhat enjoyed watching this year; “Heads of State”.
The movie Heads of State was released sometime this year and is an action comedy film. Just like many other movies, the movie had some shortcomings but I particularly enjoyed the comic and action dynamic in the movie. The three main characters were very fun to watch majorly because most of the time, Idris Elba and John Cena were at loggerheads with each other and Priyanka Chopra was always trying to stand as a mediator for the two grown adults.
Plot of the Movie
The film follows the rival leaders; Idris Alba(UK’s Prime Minister) and John Cena(US President) who board a plane together amid escalating NATO tension.
Disaster strikes when their plane is mysteriously shut down over a hostile space, stranding them in enemy territory as an assassination conspiracy unfolds. Forced into an uneasy alliance, this duo evade capture, they battle machineries and uncover a sinister plot threatening global stability all well MI6 agent pre-anka Chopra tries to help them.
Eventually, they return home at the nick of time to stop the plan from unfolding and at the same time discover that it was indeed an inside job; the person behind it was a very trusted individual.
This particular movie did not have so many characters but the few characters that played certain parts in the movie did so with so much dexterity, making it an enjoyable watch.
YouTube
The movie had high-energy action sequences and sharp comedic banters plus, it incorporated brutal fight choreography and some noteworthy explosions which threw sufficient light on the action aspects of the movie. In general there was a balance between the comedic and action aspects of the movie.
The pacing of the movie was spot on. The film maintained high momentum through rapid scene transitions. For example right after a massive plane crash, snappy banter erupted between the surviving characters just a few minutes later.
In summary, Head of States was one of the films that stood out for me this year and the fact that it featured so many great talents made it even more worth watching. What was your favorite movie of the year?
