A Subtle Reminder..

Something really interesting and unexpected happened today.

After a very tedious day at college, I got home and headed straight for my bed. Taking a nap was the only thing on my mind but on climbing my mattress, the sleep vanished. It was surprising that my very cosy and comfortable mattress that could put anyone to sleep felt very uncomfortable. This was probably because I was thinking so much about everything and nothing.

Few minutes into this dilemma, a friend texted me and said he was on his way to my house. Surprise visits are great but not on days when I feel so drained. From his description, he was already very close to my house and so I didn't have any other option than to go get him. Without really paying too much atten to how I looked, I dashed out of the house.

I reached the junction and couldn't find him anyway. The sun was blazing and so was my temper. I kept searching for any sign of him, but nothing. At this point, questions kept running through my mind. "Did he really reach or did he take the wrong route?".

Some minutes into my confusion, I looked up and saw a young lady approaching me. I felt she just wanted to pass by me or something, but she didn't. The young lady stopped right in front of me and was beaming with so much joy.

"Good day", I said. I wasn't really in the mood to strike up a conversation but I couldn't ignore the radiant smile she sent in my direction. "And you have a diastema too" was the first thing the young lady said. At this point, she had my full attention. I barely even opened my mouth, so how did she see my gap tooth? I wondered.

"Hello, my name is Rita and I just want to say that I love everything about you. You look really pretty" the young lady said. I was forced to take another look at myself. What did this young lady see that prompted her to say so much? Her courage was really admirable and that's for sure.

Her words had a way of livening my mood. For a moment, it felt like the sun wasn't so scorching. "Thank you", I managed to reply with a little smile escaping my lips. "I have to go but I hope I see you some other time", the lady said as she walked away. That was it? That was why she stopped?

This may be a normal thing to some people but where I'm from, the ladies rarely compliment each other wholeheartedly, not to talk of strangers. This was my first time having such a confrontation and I was still trying to wrap my head around what just happened. It was a very interesting moment and at that point, the song that came to mind was "scars to your beautiful". A masterpiece by Alessia Cara.

Sometimes, we do not see the beauty that lies within and without us. We go about our day, wishing and hoping to be someone else. Some people say things like "I wish I was fatter" or "I wish I had a flatter tummy". Some go as far as altering their looks just because they want to fit into the standard of the society. At what cost? I'm one person who doesn't bother so much about all these things and I would say that this is a great trait.

However, one thing I'm certain of is the fact that my mood usually has a great role to play in how I look. On normal days, I look normal and on special days, I look special, hehe.

We all have to reach a point where we can be comfortable in our own skin. Your scars are what define you. Your scars make you look special and outstanding. Irrespective of how much you try to conceal the sacrs, they can always still come to light, so why not rock your scars like you would a new dress.

Personally, I admire people who are comfortable in their own skin. People who appreciate the beauty around but are still content with the way they look. Alessia Cara speakers extensively on this in her song. "You don't have to change a thing, the world could change its heart".

I would like to dedicate this song to everyone who is happy with the way they look. We all have flaws and things we would like to change about ourselves if we were given the opportunity. I have a handful of such things but I've learned to live with them. The faster we learn to live with these flaws, the better. In the end, what matters most lies within us.

The absence of flaw in beauty is itself a flaw

Love, Wongi ✨

For a lady to put out those kind words on your glittering beauty, I can't wait to see in person 🙈.

You said all the truth, no matter how we appear; slim, fat, dark, light, we are just good. Even when we tend to admire and wish for other attributes, there are people that just like us the way we are.

What a thoughtful post, we must love ourselves and our scars and it's also good to compliment others as it makes them happy as well.

The truth is, it doesn't matter how many scars and flaws we have on our body. Someone out there doesn't really care about how you look, he or she likes you that way. And for that lady to stop by just to compliment you then oh🤔 I think you are truly a damsel, a goddess. We don't need to change a thing about how we look, moreover if we don't love who we are, if we don't love our scars, how do we expect other people to love us? Even though, not everyone one of them will love us really. The music is really pleasant and inspiring.

You're certainly right. The love has to come from within. We can't expect others to do things that we wouldn't do for ourselves.

I'm glad you found the song inspiring. Thank you so much for stopping by ✨

Wow, what an unexpected and heartwarming encounter! It's incredible how a simple interaction with a stranger can shift our perspective and brighten our day. The way the young lady, Rita, appreciated and celebrated the uniqueness of the narrator, highlighting their diastema and offering genuine compliments, is truly touching.

It is very rare to see a lady that will compliment a lady, they will only body shame you by saying u are too fat or you have a big tummy, thank you for dedicating the song to us who love our shape and the way we are created. #dreemerforlife
