CineTV Contest: The Exorcist, feel the real Horror

One of the things I enjoy doing in my free time is watching movies online. But I can't always talk about movies, but thanks to the @cinetv community I have been able to find a place that opens the doors to talk a little about movies. Week after week they have an active contest on specific themes in movies, once a long time ago I won an edition of this contest, we had to talk about movies where beer was the central theme. On this occasion the main theme of the contest is; Movies with Controversy. That is why I have decided to make my contribution about one of the most terrifying films of all time: “The Exorcist,” the mythical film that traumatized an entire generation and I am going to tell you about all those controversies that perhaps you did not know about and that thanks to cinetv today you will be able to know about.

Una de las cosas que disfruto hacer en mi tiempos libre es ver películas online. Pero no siempre puedo hablar cine, pero gracias a la comunidad de @cinetv he podido encontrar un lugar que abre las puertas para hablar un poco de películas. Semana a semana tiene un concurso activo sobre temas específicos en las películas, una vez hace mucho tiempo gane una edición de este concurso, teníamos que hablar sobre películas donde la cerveza fuera el tema central. En esta oportunidad el tema principal del concurso es; Películas con Controversia. Es por ello que he decido hacer mi participación sobre una de las películas más terroríficas de todos los tiempos: “El Exorcista” la mítica película que traumatizo a toda una generación y yo te voy a contar todas esas controversias que quizás no conocías y que gracias a cinetv hoy podrás conocer.

"The Exorcist" was a horror film released in 1973 that generated controversy due to its explicit content that at the time no one had ever seen, all of this is due to the disturbing horror scenes that involved demonic possessions, quite disrespectful dialogues and a endless moments full of special effects that made the story practically come off the screen and that many perhaps considered something real.

"El Exorcista" fue una película de terror estrenado en 1973 que generó polémica debido a su contenido explicito que para la época nunca nadie había visto jamás, todo eso se debe a las perturbadoras escenas de terror que involucraban posesiones demoniacas, diálogos bastante irrespetuosos y un sin fin de momentos llenos de efectos especiales que hacían que la historia prácticamente saliera de la pantalla y que muchos quizás consideraron algo real.

I decided to put this one first with the full intention of not talking much about it since what happened honestly seems idiotic to me, it happens that in those years the Catholic Church felt very offended by the film due to the way in which it approached everything. related to exorcisms. And also because it was supposedly offensive. But when I say that it seems idiotic to me, it is because of the following: imagine that scientific institutions that enjoy prestige, such as NASA, every time a movie about aliens, or space missions with fatalistic results or those that narrate how horrible It may be that outer space issues a formal complaint alleging that it generates discredit and reflects what it does not, but it will never happen because it is understood that it is a film and it is fiction. It seems that in those years the Catholic Church lacked a lot of experience regarding the issue that what you see in a movie IS NOT REAL.

Decidi poner esta de primero con toda la intención de no hablar mucho de ella ya que honestamente me parece una idiotez lo ocurrido, sucede que por aquellos años la iglesia católica se sintió muy ofendida por la película debido a la manera en la que abordo todo lo relacionado con los exorcismos. Y también porque supuestamente era ofensivo. Pero cuando digo que me parece una idiotez es por lo siguiente, imagina que instituciones científicas que gozan de prestigio, como por ejemplo la NASA cada vez que una película de alienes, o de misiones espaciales con resultados fatalistas o con aquellas que narran lo horrible que puede ser el espacio exterior emitieran una queja formal alegando que genera desprestigio y refleja lo que no, pero nunca ocurrirá porque se entiende que es una película y es una ficción. Parece que para esos años la iglesia católica le faltaba mucha experiencia en cuanto al tema de que lo que se ve en una película NO ES REAL.

The following controversies go hand in hand, at that time when the film was released in theaters, several viewers expressed dissatisfaction with what they saw since they presented very great emotional alterations, due to the special effects and again the terror generated by the scenes, some more violent than others. The only thing that this set of testimonies clarifies is that the work they did to date managed to break the barrier of what is film and what is real. It seems incredible but people presented symptoms such as nausea, tachycardia, loss of breath among others and all thanks to the realism that the exorcist brought to the cinema.

Las siguientes controversias van de la mano, en esa época cuando la película se estrenó en cines varios espectadores manifestaron inconformidad con lo que veían ya que presentaban alteraciones emocionales muy grandes, debido a los efectos especiales y nuevamente al terror que generaban las escenas, unas más violentas que otras. Este conjunto de testimonios lo único que aclara es que el trabajo que hicieron para la fecha logro romper la barrera de lo que es película y lo que es real. Parece mentira pero las personas presentaban síntomas como nauseas, taquicardias, perdida del aliento entre otras y todo gracias al realismo que el exorcista llevo al cine.

Last but not least; the paranormal experiences that some protagonists and part of the production team, among others, felt while the film was being filmed. I am not an expert in the paranormal, but it is curious how a whole group of people involved in the same project had the same experiences. I am not the one to question the testimonies, but I think I can do a slight analysis of the situation, it is possible that the stress on the set was so great that it caused enough havoc to experience a real ghostly scene or Perhaps it could also be that the same intensity that the director wanted to capture on film was also transmitted to everyone who worked on The Exorcist, like a kind of collective hysteria. However, it is better to have a headline in the press that relates the demonic to a film that deals with precisely the same topic... so was it really a paranormal experience? Was all this generated by stress? or was it a marketing strategy? Let me know your opinion on this latest controversy, I'd like to know what you think.

Por último pero no menos importante; las experiencias paranormales que algunos protagonistas y parte del equipo de producción entre otros sintieron mientras la película estaba siendo filmada. No soy un experto en lo paranormal, pero es curioso como todo un conjunto de personas involucradas en el mismo proyecto tuvieron las mismas experiencias. No soy quién para poner en tela de juicio los testimonios, pero creo que sí puedo hace un leve análisis de la situación, es posible que el estrés en el set era tan grande que causó estragos suficientes como para llegar a experimentar una escena fantasmal real o quizás también pude ser que la misma intensidad que el director quería plasmar en película también la logro transmitir en todos los que trabajaron en el exorcista, como una especie de histeria colectiva. ¿Sin embargo, es mejor un titular en prensa que relacione lo demoniaco con una película que trata precisamente del mismo tema… entonces fue realmente una experiencia paranormal? Todo esto fue generado por el estrés? o era una estrategia de marketing? déjame saber tu opinión sobre esta última controversia, me gustaría conocer lo que piensan.

The Exorcist without a doubt at the time and even today remains one of the most acclaimed horror films, a film that even serves as a reference for new generations of filmmakers. El exorcista sin duda alguna en su momento e incluso en la actualidad sigue siendo una de las películas de terror más aclamadas, una película que sirve incluso de referencia para las nuevas generaciones de cineastas.
