Playing with numbers (in a good way).
Today I decided to make some financial moves based on everything I had already learned in the traditional market, combined with the new knowledge acquired within the cryptocurrency market (after I gained a broad understanding of the power of blockchain technology a few years ago). My action profile used to be quite conservative (due to the "chains" placed on me by the traditional economy), but fortunately it has changed a lot.

I can't say that I'm a bold investor (especially since I belong to a class that is considered poor here in Brazil), but I classify myself as a medium-risk investor. This means that I just prefer to keep my conservative essence (considering that all the investments I make are very well calculated and conditioned by some barriers that I rarely break), but I always allow myself to go a little "further".
I like to explore new paths because this usually brings me new opportunities for action. Bitcoin and Ethereum are my favorite combo (and I've been working with this duo for some time now), but I'm always researching what the cryptocurrency market has to offer. I stay away from memecoins (although I have had some relatively interesting gains with some of them in the past), and I always read a lot before taking a step.
Changing (or even reshaping) my options portfolio in this market is always an interesting challenge. Being in front of charts and numbers that previously meant absolutely nothing to me, today brings me a very good sense of belonging, and motivates me to want to continue within a disruptive financial market (completely escaping the centralized optimism of the traditional economy). Literally, I am part of the revolution.

However, playing with these numbers still brings me a little apprehension. The market is never predictable, but it always remains volatile because of its sensitivity to so many other external factors around the world. Security is essential in these moments when investments need to be made, but the strange "feeling" of fun is an aspect that tends to be very real for me. I am "playing" with my financial future, but in a good way.

Investments in Crypto and real stocks are 2 complete different play grounds. The problem is that behind most Crypto there isn't a real usecase. Sometimes it does feel that the value of a coin is build on the perspective of the crypto traders.
A real stock is backed by value and numbers. Profit margin, growth in revenue and stuff like that.
The value of crypto is mostly based on sentiment. And that is why it is hard to predict. Fud can be enough to crush a crypto. Fud for a real stock is mostly based on hard data, bad season, the hype is over (clothes for instance) and things like that.
That's why I do try to just consolidate what I do have in crypto. Planning to swap some soon to BTC and ETH. Because if they didn't get close to their ATH, they will probably never come close.
I agree with you here. They are 2 very different types of investments and the approach is very different.
When stocks dump and it's not really based in reality, the company in question will just buy their own stock back. Or someone else can just buy the company and take it private.
That's not really possible in crypto. People that run the ETH foundation can’t just buy more ETH with ETH. 😅
I believe this kind of thinking will take a long time to be understood by the masses.
Unfortunately. In the meanwhile, let's try to "clean the path" for them... Haha!
Glass half full view is things happen fast in crypto 😅
Less fog and more of a clean path will go a long way in my opinion 😊
Let's do the service then.
We can!
In stocks, what's essentially being discussed in the market through price is the future. If you think about it, the discussion isn't about reality. You see this when companies release their financial statements. If the numbers significantly exceeded market expectations, the company's stock price rises sharply. If the numbers were poor and far from what the market expected, the stock price falls sharply.
The stock market can be irrational. The stock market is often times irrational longer than people can remain solvent. This is why making aggressive bets based on a DCF or a multiple valuation tend to not be good long term strategies.
In stocks, the valuation is based on the assumptions of what will happen in the future. Assumptions are inherently subjective but should be based on reality. Also, sentiment does impact stocks too, it is just not the driving factor for a long-term valuation.
Stock prices may drop sharply at times but that sharp decline is typically unfelt by a CRYPTO trader that is looking for massive price swings 😅
Many people buy and sell stocks based solely on charts and don't see the balance in their lives. How each person invests is their own business. But the future is discussed through price. The past is gone, and the present lasts only an instant. The stock market is based on pure expectations.
I agree. That is why technical analysis is not recommended in this community. Actual value of a business vs where we think a line will go are very different "ideas."
Agreed. I encourage people to only use this TradFi Community for research and not to view it as a guaranteed path for success.
IMO the "stock market's value" is based on both mathematics and psychology. The weighted impact of mathematics and the weighted impact of psychology seems to change overtime. I am not sure what causes that change.
maybe they gonna trade old ETH for new ETH.. like what they do on old bills.. 🤣
I’m not sure it would “work” in the same way lol 🤣🤣🤣
I couldn't agree more with your comment, @fullcoverbetting.
The fields are completely different, and people need to understand what their own needs are (considering what each side has to offer) before dive into those kind of waters.
You have made the best decision to hold valuable cryptocurrencies, as well as others that have generated income for you. A well-considered investment.
Yeah. So far, I have no complains about my own decisions.
Hove you're doing fine on this "game" too.
I understand when you say that you now better understand things related to the financial world and cryptocurrencies; it's been happening to me since I started studying finance here at Hive. I can now understand some concepts or issues that I didn't fully understand before, or didn't consider important.
In other words, I opened myself up to new paths and that's great.
That's awesome, 'cause you are "bursting the bubble" in which many people still insist on living.
I think that's where I am right now, although I also know that little by little I'll become more familiar with this world full of figures and numbers, as you rightly mention 👍
It all comes down to interest, effort, and hard work.
Good luck on your goals.
I'm preparing myself for life in finance, learning and reading from the most experienced to gain my own experience. Sharing your experience is a great contribution and very motivating.
You're doing this very right. Knowledge is power.
Thanks.
one thing good about crypto is you can do exchange directly on the exchange platform that you directly have control. In stocks? I don't have any experience such with such, always using with broker. I wonder if there is direct buy and sell thing with a company.
In the field of stocks, I think things are little more "complicated" considering what you're saying.
