Vital force - Monomad Challenge

This series is a selection of mixed images taken during my usual routines around the city, an exploration of the visual aspects I see and what I can capture within the photographic frame as part of that same universe. Among all the photos exhibited on this occasion, two photographs caught my attention: they depict people who appear to be of advanced age, perhaps over 80 years old, in a city where, in recent years, there has been a noticeable increase in the elderly population due to the emigration of many young people to other countries, leaving a void in the city's youth.

But beyond that, when I see these very elderly people walking through the city, overcoming all obstacles and using a cane, I think they truly have a strong will to live their lives. Regardless of their age, they maintain their routines, or perhaps they simply don't want to be confined to their homes. In a way, it reminds me of my paternal grandmother, who passed away two years ago at 107. Until she was 95, she was still walking everywhere, practically unstoppable. It was her own vital force that kept her active. I see the same thing when I see people like that on the street.

Some have physical limitations that slow their pace, but they still persevere, no matter how long it takes. It's truly impressive how capable human beings are of overcoming their limitations. However, there's also the opposite: when we create limits for ourselves, preventing ourselves from doing something, when in reality we can do anything, anytime.
