Light, contrast, and action - Monomad Challenge

From my point of view, black and white photography, beyond the aesthetic appeal of its images, focuses on reinforcing certain aspects, such as the impact of lighting. This is crucial because, obviously, the colors are muted, so this monochromatic aspect must be subject to better lighting to create that range of contrast and texture. Therefore, one has a greater focus on highlighting shadows, silhouettes, or those shapes that blend within shadows cast by a strong light, whether artificial or natural.

Now, it's possible to achieve black and white photos with softer lighting, and yes, it's possible, but from my perspective, it can lose some of that greater focus on the subjects. For example, a sunset photograph is achieved with soft, diffused light, which is perfect in color, but in black and white, the image can appear underexposed, unless it's edited later, but even then, the best result wouldn't be achieved.

That's why many photographers who work with black and white use strong lighting. In my case, I like to take photos during the day when the sun is very strong, so I can capture scenes with a greater presence of shadows, silhouettes, and that contrast, as I mentioned at the beginning of this post. Therefore, these are the photographs I'm presenting today, with the idea of sharing my perspective or vision of this world and what I see.

Your composition is perfect.

Your high contrast is my favourite kind of lighting / post pro.

And your focus is immaculate!

Wonderful work, again.

I understand exactly what you wrote about. I had such a problem when processing photos until the last post to monomad. In some photos, after processing on b&w, the objects completely merged with the background and I had to give them up. And as for your photos, it's really a great job with the shape, light and shadow. I love it!
