Between streets and facades in downtown Ciudad Guayana

Today I had planned to climb El Gallo Hill, located in the city of San Félix, Bolívar State, Venezuela, with the intention of getting some exercise and appreciating all of Ciudad Guayana from above. However, since I left early, I had a lot to do and thought I'd have time to go up the hill. However, I did have time to take a walk through downtown San Félix, which I hadn't been to for a while since I stopped working in the area. I haven't been there as much as I used to, so I'm leaving you with these photographic postcards of this place.

Partly, while walking down these streets, I felt a bit nostalgic. In a way, due to the time I spent working in this area, you get used to it and then feel that feeling of nostalgia for each of these corners, those corners that have their own charm, a whole landscape that contrasts between the camber of these streets, amidst the many shops and people, and partly the nature and specific sites.

How can I forget the many times I spent time appreciating the eternal river that lies very close to the center, where you could also see part of the land of another state, specifically the state of Monagas, on the other side. I also appreciated a glimpse of the architectural features, some of which have been preserved over time, as well as capturing the essence of the people, in their daily routines or even just enjoying their stay.

Downtown San Félix is one of the most important landmarks in Bolívar state, due to its contribution to the economy and its entire network of businesses that span countless blocks. It is also important for its presence in state institutions such as the mayor's office and state political bodies, as well as the presence of a Plaza Bolívar, unique in Ciudad Guayana. Puerto Ordaz, being a new city, does not have a Plaza Bolívar, while San Félix does, having been founded much longer.

As I've always said, aside from the economic contribution the city center can make, I've always said it has great potential for tourism. I've always thought they could take advantage of the presence of the great river to host many tourism-related activities, as well as cultural activities, the creation of historical museums, and other things that can be done in this place with great potential. But it's always good to appreciate this place for its charm, as I've said, its streets, its squares, its architectural facades, and the surrounding nature. It's undoubtedly a beautiful universe that everyone should experience at some point. I hope to return to these streets again and continue exploring every corner of it.

All photographs are my own.
