Biggest Discovery in 2023 - 𝕃𝕒𝕤𝕥 𝔻𝕚𝕟𝕟𝕖𝕣 ℙ𝕒𝕣𝕥𝕪 𝕊𝕡𝕖𝕔𝕚𝕒𝕝 (Not The Last Of Them)

(This is Not A ´Sunday School Session, Then It Would Be Called The Last Supper Party)

I am Calling Dips On This Amazing Discovery and it´s not a StroopWafel.
Now Boygenius was said to be the Band for 2024 but they did not really live up to those high expectations.
Or maybe it´s because this other Girl Band passed them by like Max did Lewis.

Of course, I am talking writing about my biggest find of 2023, and if you have been following me Dear Reader you know that being my biggest find is quite the achievement. Because I spent my days diving into musical rabbit holes and taking you with me on those trips.

It all started with me featuring them as the opening band in my Strange Little Girls Midnight Gems Session 5 months ago.

You know me I am still a teen at heart so I loved the naughty language, but the ladies clearly have no problem toning it down a bit for National TV, still, they make it F you which I prefer compared to a so-called clean version.

Because these Dames are everything but clean, they might sound a bit AbbAish, but you can not make songs like this if you have no life experience.

Well maybe one, but these girls don´t even have an album out and everything freaking song is a sin.

Yeah, you got the ABBA vibe now don´t you Dear Reader? Now we will not hold that against you, but would it be a sin to say that they did better than ABBA?

Now they of course got their share of criticism:

They’re “industry plants”. They’re “nepo babies”.

These clowns calling the girls Nepo, need to do their research a bit better because now they only prove that people actually are as dumb as they look (I will explain why later when I serve you this Dinner Party´s dessert).

Having said that just look at them (the Dinner Girls), doesn´t that feel like the next Jane Austin Novel

Oh and I can´t wait for that album, so there will probably be an album review coming because I don´t do album reviews.

Just like Catholic British girls should not develop feelings for other girls....or should they...well Abigail (ABI?? sounds like ....) describes it best herself in Lady of Mercy.

I thought that Lady of Mercy was my favorite song, probably because it was the latest release.

Now, of course, it was already featured in a Midnight Gems Session because I have been shilling the hell out of these Brits. But I am positive that you have not heard this version yet.

I would not do this if I knew the Girls would not be okay with it...but they brought this on themselves.

They responded to a band I never heard of, but that does not mean anything anymore nowadays, that was doing a UK tour and asked for local talent to open for them.

The Girls did not expect to be picked for the London gig (they only did like 10 gigs prior to this one) but they did, it was their biggest crowd till then opening for these guys:

Last Dinner Party Opening XOYO April 2022

That is what I mean with research, this was a year before they even signed any record deal. This is just genuine and impressive.

And if you don´t want to watch the whole show, which I think you should because you might not see them this green ever again and that has its charm, check out at least this part it´s so typical The Last Dinner Party. So sweet, and yet so strong a stage presence already

Bikini Bottom Line

Let´s end with the fun fact that these Last Dinner Girls were so impressed opening for a band that they loved that they screamed when they heard they got the gig. Because they considered these guys with 60K views on their biggest hit to be huge, and they now would open for them.

One year later this opening act has gathered 1.7 million views on their biggest hit, and they just started.

Now I don´t care about the views, I like to discover awesome songs with no views but damn these girls deserve it. They are my Gem of the year 2023.

Alright, throwing in one more just to show I did my Due Diligence and these girls used to be called The Dinner Party, before getting signed. But as there was another group with that name they ended up being Last.

So if this was Feb 2022 that might explain the sound quality a bit because this was just their 7th show or so.

Damn, that was a true eargasm, and I don´t have those that often anymore....

I could go on for hours and hours, but these girls just have 4 songs out so far. But of course, feel free to put their Spotify playlist on repeat!

This band truly can claim that they were my biggest discovery of 2023. And as the saying goes everything comes back in style one day, even an illegitimate love child of Bowie and Abba, well five love children to be exact. And all raised by Kate Bush, and listening to some early Suede.

So far they only toured the UK but in 2024 they will do some foreign gigs.

But the one I would have gone to is Done The Rabbit Hole, they so fit that festival it´s scary...the good kind.
