Beyond The Looking Glass is the second book in the Unseen series, a story that came to me from the other side. A story where I thought I was just the narrator until I heard the Words of the Unseen.

This second story goes beyond time and place and mixes the long ago with the here and now. Because history keeps repeating, until we learn and do something about it.

Beyond The Looking Glass - Words of the Unseen - Chapter 93

Dear Reader, In this day and age, everyone thinks they have a story to tell.

Which might be true, but who still listens? Back in the day, when nobody had time to write and many loved to read, a book was something special.

Now the cat lady across the street just published her second novel about her favorite cat Rosy. And it actually got more readers than I do.

While I am writing about how I am sent to save humanity from its own downfall,

This book is a blueprint for how to rescue humanity, but nobody has time for that.

Wasting your time, is that the real punishment? That they take the most valuable commodity we have, and make us waste it?

I am sure the system does not see it like that, but it sure as hell feels like it. Thank god they have a library, which also has English books. Not that they are top shelf, but you have to pass the time.

Besides the library, there is not much to do; there is a place where you can do a workout, and you can walk around the square yard. Something that seems to be very popular, personally I don't like it, but itรฑs movement and allows you to speak in private.

When I look up from my book, there is a typical Polish guy in front of me. I can't help it, but these guys all look the same.

"German?" he asks.
"No Dutch," I answer, and look down at the book again, but apparently this guy is shy of a chat.

"You are new, right? Why are you here?"

I start the story about my girlfriend's mother, but out of the corner of my eye I see an older man, a couple of tables down the aisle, put his finger to his lips.

I once spoke to him in a group but he seems quite a loner. But why this gesture?

"So something like that," I cut off my story. "But I would like to finish the book before dinner."

The Pole with his square head and stocky shoulders nods kindly. "Of course, catch you later."

Just as I have picked up the thread of my book, the man with the silence gesture is standing behind me. He is a Spaniard with long curly hair, but not a gitano.

"The less people know, the better," he says just above a whisper. Then he calmly walks on.

Why these whispered words? I have nothing to hide. When I put the book back on the shelf, I am still pondering his subtle gesture.

I don't get the chance to ask him what he meant, the next morning, I am transferred to another section.

The section where you wait for your flight. I share a cell with a young Moroccan boy. He gives me a set of clean socks, I still have only one and it has been ten days.

He doesnยดt ask anything back but he seems nervous so I offer him a sedative.

I am still glad with the fact that I was thinking on my feet that first day at the doctor. I got more pills than I can handle, and if needed, I am sure they are worth something. Thatยดs why I have left the captain a few, with a thank you note, so he can continue to hustle.

Jail is really like hell if you are curious and organized like me, because nobody tells you anything here.
From one moment to the next, I am told that I have to get ready.

It was about time, those promised ten days have passed.

When the proposal came, I thought 10 days at most, I thought I would probably be back with Yelannix in a week. Although I had no idea how she would get through that week.

I get tears in my eyes again when I think how shocked she must be, and how difficult it must be for her in this strange country. Or did she go to the Netherlands, I can't imagine.

My idea was a quick back and forth. Fly to the Netherlands, explain things, and then go back. Nobody had to know this, but that turned out a little differently.

Today is Sunday, so I assume I will fly tomorrow, then put things right. Damn, that would mean I am gone for at least two weeks. How will she manage? How would I manage as I have no idea how to explain that at work?
Would I still have a job? and the dogs? "And what if Deliah calls to arrange for my boy to spend the weekend with me?"

Apart from my father, I haven't heard from anyone. I still don't know how my father knew that something had happened.

It's strange to be so cut off from the world, like this. Strange and at the same time sort of soothing, there's really nothing you can do about it except accept it and be patient.

Two of my strongest qualities, but I'm doing pretty well so far.
