Beyond The Looking Glass is the second book in the Unseen series, a story that came to me from the other side. A story where I thought I was just the narrator until I heard the Words of the Unseen.

This second story goes beyond time and place and mixes the long ago with the here and now. Because history keeps repeating, until we learn and do something about it.

Beyond The Looking Glass - Words of the Unseen - Chapter 123

Dear Reader, for the longest time, I wondered if we could change?

If you, for example, have the ability to unlearn something. To let go of certain basic teachings, certain human concepts.

As a kid, your surroundings will influence you in a way you can hardly comprehend, and along the path of life, you sometimes recognize things that you have taken for granted as being you.

Things that stem not from your true self, but that you picked up from the world you grew up in.

We grow up accepting these things as normal, but the human concept of normal finds its origin too often in fear, fear of pain, and fear of death.

Can you unlearn? Let go of what is normal too many, and redefine normal for you?

Is there a difference between Who Am I, and Quien Soy, or rather the words I keep hearing:

Quien Eres?

I am feeling that my Sherlock is on the road again, he found something right here:

🗣️ 1. The Roots of the Words

English: “Who are you?”

  • "Who" comes from Old English hwā, Proto-Germanic hwas—meaning "what person."
  • "Are" comes from the verb to be, which in Indo-European roots (es-) implies existence or being.
  • "You" (from Proto-Germanic þu) is second-person singular/plural—used in direct address.

So the question “Who are you?” in English is deeply tied to your existential presence:

What person exists here, right now? What defines your being?

It echoes Western individualism: the "I am" model, where identity is separate, static, and internal.

Spanish: “¿Quién eres?”

  • "Quién" comes from Latin quem, from quis — meaning who or which person.
  • "Eres" is from ser, the Spanish verb "to be," which means essential being (not temporary like estar).
  • Spanish makes a philosophical distinction between ser (essence) and estar (state).

So “¿Quién eres?” isn’t just ‘who are you,’ but more like:

What is your true nature? What is your enduring identity—not just right now, but in your soul?

This echoes Latin and Catholic influences: identity is moral, essential, relational, not just existential.

🧠 2. Cultural Implications

  • In English, “Who are you?” might feel more confrontational or personal—demanding a self-definition.
  • In Spanish, “¿Quién eres?” feels more introspective, essentialist, maybe even spiritual—asking for the “you” beyond roles and appearances.

🌐 3. Philosophical Layer: Identity vs. Essence

  • English identity tends to be self-contained: job, name, traits, beliefs.
  • Spanish (and many Romance languages) tap into the idea of being as essence, often defined in relationship (to God, family, or community).

So when someone asks “¿Quién eres?” they may be asking:

“What’s your purpose? What do you carry in your being?”

Versus “Who are you?” which might imply:

“How do you define yourself right now?”

¿Quién eres?Essential, soul-basedWhat is your true essence, your inner purpose?

You see, I had that feeling again, and there is a reason why I keep hearing Quien Eres.

It is not about the role I play right now, but:
“What is my purpose? What do I carry in my being?”

But that's enough navel-gazing and soul searching.

If I listen any longer, I am probably going to be told that the secret to this question is much more about the journey of thought, and not the answer you end up with.

I do wonder why I hear these things, why this question crossed my path a million times. And as I live in the now, or try to do so: why this particular question, and why in this now?

Should now not be the time to focus on what is ahead?

There is so much to do, and I am told to be patient, to continue what I am doing, as if the place will find me.

As if one day someone will walk up to me and say: "You know what, I have this perfect little place in my backyard ideally for you to start that place, what you call it, Refugio, well, that something you plan to build which will save this world?

Even if that happens, I am quite sure it will not be for free, and although you might not believe it when I tell you, I am still pretty human. Yes, I know I don´t have to be, but I am.

I am realistic enough to know that my plan will require money, at the same time, I know that it will be there. But I feel the need to at least steer my vessel down the right rabbit hole, so how do I get enough money to make the initial purchase?

That is the more human question simmering in my skull stew, and it´s been there for a very long time. I had help, turning this life around from rags to riches, and I just started, but the effects are clear.

And if I release the idea of compounding interest into this matter in a more spiritual sense, the abundance that began so small has been expanding exponentially.
