Beyond Doubt: Whispers of the Unseen - Chapter 26
Welcome to my seemingly endless journey.
A trip that will take you to places I might have visited many moons ago.
It´s a tale that came back to me when I meditated on one of my past lives. A life I told you about in my unbelievable true story.
As promised in that story I will now share this story with you.

Chapter 26

“Numico how do you know all this?” I ask, probably knowing the answer already. At the same time I see the glint in the young man's eyes, which are now white again, but still glassy.
“Martio I do not speak alone. I know about the thè, but much of what I tell I just pass on.” His voice sounds so deep that I decipher several layers in it, some sound familiar.
“The sickness you have been feeling for the past few days is the detoxification of your body. Difficulty focusing and meditating is also related to the withdrawal. You are strong, many have won this battle with difficulty. You, on the other hand, are holding up well. But be wary of your dreams, they can harm you. Now that your mind becomes clean, it will be temporarily open to forces you don't think possible,” the timbre of the voice changes slightly.
“Son, trust Numico. Treat him like a man, like an equal, because he's the key. Only you two can turn the tide. Many lives are in danger and all the knowledge our tribe possesses could be lost. This will throw the world we know back to the dark age of the Krotan Duas.”
"Master Oniko?" I say questioningly. Numico's eyes glaze over, he nods. "Follow your path, you are on the right track."
Then Numico's eyes turn upwards so that only the whites of his eyes are visible. The whites have an orangeish glow from the reflection of the flames. It looks frightening as if they were the eyes of a monster. I keep looking into the eyes full of fire. I get a frightened premonition that this too is a sign, a warning.
Then Numico's arms slowly rise into the air, stretching further and further. His eyes roll back and a huge yawn leaves his mouth as the arms stretch even further. He stretches, shifts his position, and looks at me a little unsure; "That was telling me, sometimes I wish they didn't need me. They always leave such a drowsy, floaty feeling."
We eat and drink in silence, both lost in thought. My thoughts are with the message I just received. I am happy with the new piece of history that has been communicated to me, but the idea of never drinking thè again displeases me.
It's such a delicious drink. It brings such strength, such inner peace. I also have to get rid of the idea of maybe drinking some tea now and then. Its effect would only make me sick if used sporadically. Fortunately, I wouldn't be tempted for a while, beyond a doubt that this was planned.
Still, I doubt the choice not to inform the people. Generations of wise men have had the opportunity to change this, no one has ever taken that step. Would the power of knowledge have seized them all? Did they not want to lose their privileges as elders and wise? The doubts remain, but for now, I have no choice but to trust their decision.
“Master, eehhe Martria,” Numico breaks the silence. “What are you going to do with me now?”
We both know that I will not send him back.
Now that he's a man, I'm not even authorized to send him back. But he honors my age and supervision of him by still letting the answer depend on me. He shows me that I am in charge, at least for now.
"Numico, I cannot send you away. I owe my life to you and therefore I cannot demand anything from you that you do not support yourself. Especially after the Terastata ritual. You are a man, you are responsible for your own choices and these are clear given the situation."
"In addition, the spirituas say that we must undertake this journey together. It is better for us to respond to this since it is a decision that we have previously made for ourselves. But I'm curious about how you left the village. How you followed me, without me feeling or seeing you and your parents, do they know where you are, what you are doing?"
Numico can´t suppress a smile; "Martio I have waited patiently for ages for you to be ready for this journey. I have planted seeds in your mind so that you may undertake this journey. These seeds along with your wishes have sent you on this quest. Yes, I followed you and left my parents in ignorance of where I was going. But I wrote them this before I left.”
Father and mother respect my long-considered choice. I am very grateful for your love and good care. Life in our village is not the life I see for myself. It's not the way I should go. I am in safe hands and have reconciled myself to the spirit world through many sacrifices I have made to them in my life.
Do not worry. Do not try to follow me, the dangers to those who do so are incalculable. Trust me to return one day, but don't wait for me. Live on, enjoy and believe that when I see you again it will be one of the best days in our lives.
Your son Numico.
In order not to get caught up in any chaos that might arise from the way you chose to leave, I have gone ahead of you. After our conversation that afternoon I ran straight to the village. There I gathered the necessities for the journey. Unlike you, I had to carry little food, no weapons, and no gear. Only some food to get through the first nights, only rope, hooks, and water."
"I wrote the letter, which I had thought of for months and left it on my bunk under some clothes. I told Mother I would go into the woods in search of the first fruits. I told her I might spend the night in a cave you showed me. My mother wanted me to come home, but she saw no danger if I spent the night in the cave. Then I went looking for buffalo, I knew he would be somewhere in the woods."
"Together we waited hidden in the woods for what was to come. My thoughts were with you, so I was even able to occasionally see images of what you were doing. Time passed slowly and despite the fact that I knew what was coming, the tension in me increased. Which I found weird because I know it would happen as this journey is important, not just to us."
