La Mer On The Eastern Lapyahan Coast

How can you consider a local town blessed? Natural resources, cultural practices, agriculture, tourism, and the people are some of what we consider when we claim our town is abundant in nature and beauty. Well, for me, I consider everything I could ever find in that particular town, and if ever some of these things lack, but a very beautiful resort and beach is standing along a coast with a beautiful seaside view, blessed is how I can call that town I visited.

I have shared in my past posts the beauty of Lapyahan Coast, and many times I have shared photos of the coast in its western part. Rarely had I taken a stroll and visited the eastern side because that part is not usually visited and is too silent for me. When it comes to choosing which beach to go to, I consider the crowd and the amount of peace I could encounter. A beach should be in balance between the two to make me interested in it.

But life always has a way of twisting our preferences. When what we enjoy as our "normal," like a place or food, goes boring or overrated, we try to add a bit of uniqueness to it by going the other way around. Now, it is confusing to understand my English, but what I am saying is that when a beach goes boring for you, you will find another that would add something new, even if it means bending your preferences.

While the eastern part of the Lapyahan Coast is silent and not usually visited, it is home to natural and neat beach resorts almost overlooked by tourists. One of these is the La Mer Beach Resort, a beautiful resort in the town of San Remigio that is situated beside the old Lingay Beach Resort. It is now popular for its affordable beachfront accommodation options and elegant cuisines that balance simplicity with seaside elegance.

La Mer Beach Resort is a very young resort in our town that opened in the year 2020, if my memory serves me well. It is a 15-minute ride from our old home, so I am quite familiar with this resort, as I used to walk past it without any idea of the beauty it carries until I experienced the resort during my cousin’s birthday. It is a small and privately owned resort in Poblacion, San Remigio, Cebu, that has been gaining attention since it opened until now because of the cuisines it offers and its mesmerizing pool and fine beach that visitors encounter. It offers a peaceful and scenic escape along the Lapyahan Coast; therefore, visitors have convenient access to the coast and beachfront area where activities like kayaking, surfing, jet skiing, and swimming are offered.

For context, the resort carries a cooling central swimming pool area, comfortable rooms, casual dining, a beachfront scene, and a restaurant for hungry stomachs. For the resort rooms, prices vary depending on the number of guests and the type of room. Visitors may choose couple rooms, family rooms, barkada rooms, and other larger rooms that can accommodate more people.
The rooms are perfect for a beach stay after a long day, and basic amenities like a TV, toilets, and access to Wi-Fi are freely offered. Breakfast and some food inclusions depend on the type of room you avail.

Visitors in La Mer get the beach experience they want with a natural setting and perfect sunset views by the end of the day. Families, friends, couples, and even individuals can enjoy the beauty of La Mer with affordable offers and options that are truly worth paying for when it comes to the experience you get to store in your memories. Some events like birthdays and team buildings happen here, and many visitors also come for casual dining during dinner and a quick dip in the pool.

With its quiet simplicity and unpretentious seaside character, La Mer continues to operate and welcome interested visitors who want to experience a resort so near the beach where they can walk around and take a break. This is what I love about La Mer: it has a pool at the center, but if you walk toward the sand, a fine beach with white sand also awaits. Visitors have plenty of options on where to swim. If they want a more commercialized experience, they can dip in the pool, or if they prefer a more natural and spacious experience, the beach is the perfect outlet.

We were having a good time one night when we visited La Mer. I consider that visit fortunate because there were only a few visitors. Although the resort does not get crowded due to its limited accommodations, that night we were the only ones swimming around the pool, as other visitors were already tired from daytime activities. Around the pool, benches and triangular-shaped umbrellas are installed for more comfortable conversations and bonding, especially for parents who want to look after their kids while swimming.

The building you can see in the photos is where the accommodation rooms are built. They sometimes offer promos and discounts during holidays, but even without them, the accommodation is still affordable. By the way, if you are from the city, just go to the nearest North Bus Terminal, ride a bus headed to Hagnaya or Lambusan, and stop at San Juan Nepomuceno Parish Church as your landmark. From there, you can ride a tricycle going inside and ask the driver to bring you to the resort, which is at least a four-minute ride. You can also walk if you want to roam around the area.
