He Went To The City For A Sale, But Came Home With Our Son In His Arms

I wasn't able to go with him this week because of hectic classes, so he went there without me for a while. Many things happened that day, and he messaged me that he would not eat dinner since he had something for me and we would eat together. There was also someone who was excited to see me, and it confused me. I asked him who on earth he brought to the province, but he said I should find out once he arrived. I actually waited for him on the highway to greet him after the whole day grind, and he was so tired I wanted to hug him once he descended from the van. But by the time the van started its engine and left, I saw my man standing there with a puppy carried in his arms.

And it was Zuki. Our son. He is a crossbreed puppy, Shih Tzu and Maltese, with white fur and subtle brown stripes on his head. My boyfriend bought him from a fur parent who posted Zuki on Facebook, and he was actually planning before to get a puppy because he loves dogs and he knows how much help Zuki can give him at times of stress and frustration. But I came to know that he primarily bought Zuki because he wants him to have a good life. Which is for sure, Zuki is in good hands.
I posted last night about our trip to Maño where we stayed for one night at a beach located there called Maria Beach. Information about the beach can be read in my previous blog before this. Feel free to read, my friend.

We brought Zuki with us during that weekend trip. Of course, we cannot leave our son at home, and we want him also to have a fresh breath in the province after living for a couple of months in the polluted city of Cebu. He is not fully vaccinated yet, so aside from the house, places like this with no dogs and less human contact are the other safe places for him to walk and enjoy the ground. We ensure healthy and clean places for Zuki so he is safe while enjoying this world. We are afraid he might get sick if we are careless. Good that we are not.

Zuki enjoyed the beach as much as we enjoyed it. He was with us the whole time and became part of everything we did, except swimming since he can't be washed yet after getting his first vaccine shot. We actually didn't put him directly on the ground, just in some corners above the rock formations we explored on the beach where we were sure of his safety and neatness.

Look how we enjoyed the grasses. I guess it was his first time touching grass with a good breeze from the sea waves because most of his early life in the city was just in a house with concrete interiors and polluted air. I can see how much he enjoyed the view and the idea of being so free with the green and blue views. He was obviously happy, and his eyes were so vibrant whenever he stared at us. Sometimes his tongue would go out and he would breathe excitedly.

At sunset, we also brought Zuki with us to another corner of the beach to watch the sun go down and hide behind the sea horizon. It was a perfect sunset we witnessed, not because of the sunset itself but because my view was not only the sunset but the two boys I love so much. I love my man and our dog. And yes, the idea that my boyfriend carries Zuki with tenderness and love tells so much about the man I am marrying soon. He is just so lovable.
I never thought of loving two boys in this lifetime nor doing things I would learn to love eventually because of these boys. And maybe this is what home truly feels like — not just a place in the north or a trip to the city, but moments like this, simple and quiet, with the ones who make my heart full.
