Last week, I shared with you our trip to Maño Beach and the story about our new dog, Zuki, through my blogs, which you can read in my feed. Many things happened last week during our seaside experience, as well as the unexpected arrival of our furry son on a random night before our trip. Life is just so full of surprises. It is so good to be here and breathing with my heart's content.

Well, after our trip to Maria Beach in Maño City, we got home and rested for three hours before meeting again at Lapyahan Beach for a quick walk with our babies, Zuki and Chai, the latter girl dog to be featured in this column. We were tired back then, but we had a two-hour rest by the time we arrived home and recharged for a bit. We promised ourselves to take our puppies on a walk, with safety and care, since they are not fully vaccinated yet. Also, the sunset on the Lapyahan coast is one for the books. We craved watching it with our dogs, with the idea that it is the weekend, watching the sunset together, not in a rush, but in contentment.

Before going to the beach, we stopped for a while at a mini-restaurant to eat since we were not able to eat lunch as we slept immediately when we got home. This is Chai and Zuki, laid down on the chairs while we were eating. I really thought they were bored from our trip, but when we arrived at the beach, they were very energetic and vibrant, unlike the faces they showed here.

Chai is a crossbreed, Aspin and Chihuahua, a puppy that my family bought two weeks ago. She is a family puppy, and everyone owns her. But Chai is closer to me, if truth be told. She is a girl with white and black fur, with the latter covering her face, making her invisible in the dark corners of our house when she hides. She is three months old, and the family dynamics here in the house were altered when she arrived. We have another dog, Bruce, a Shipoo dog, but he is not affectionate, unlike what we expected him to be. Chai is so gentle, and you can differentiate how she moves around the house with elegance and grace, unlike our dog Bruce, who is dominant and apathetic. We are not making comparisons with the intention to undervalue our Bruce, but just to give a peek at why Chai altered our brain chemistry here.

I brought her with me, and my boyfriend brought Zuki, which I featured yesterday in another blog, and we all walked together on the serene coast of Lapyahan while the golden sunlight hit our faces, warmer and gentler. It was a perfect scene for me, our puppies in silhouette as well as the figure of my boyfriend, whom I love so deeply and intentionally. We enjoyed the scene, with the sunset perfectly spreading above us, changing colors from time to time before dusk eventually arrived.

Many people passing by greeted us with genuine smiles, and some would ask about our puppies. Chai captured most of their attention because she is just so tiny that people get interested in knowing about her. She might have the face of her Aspin father, but her body is shaped by her Chihuahua mother, which is quite confusing for us when we try to explain her breed. Lol.

A family photo of us just sitting on the square and resting for a while as we witnessed the sunset occur and let time pass by before our eyes.

Our Lapyahan in San Remigio was filled with many swimmers, families, couples, hikers, and passersby that afternoon, and I even saw many of my past colleagues, with whom I had very quick conversations. What I mean by quick is just checking in on them and then ending the conversation. Because I have my boyfriend and puppies to focus on, and no other people could get it from them. The sunset was so perfect, the light was just so perfect, it was a perfect phenomenon only seen here on the coast of Lapyahan. No wonder many tourists from the city always go here whenever possible just to witness it.

And as the sky slowly dimmed and the waves kept whispering against the shore, I realized how simple moments like this become the most unforgettable ones. No grand plans, no extravagant celebrations, just us, our puppies, the sea, and a sunset that felt like it was made especially for that evening. Life may surprise us in the most unexpected ways, but if this is how it unfolds, soft, golden, and full of love, then I will always choose to show up for it, breathing deeply, grateful for every ordinary yet extraordinary day.
