My Second Tattoo and the Meaning Behind It
Heyy, wholesome reader!
Surprise, surprise, surprise! Earlier this year, I got my second tattoo, which was long overdue since I initially planned to get it last year in May. 🤭
If you've been following me here since I first started, I gladly shared a post about my first tattoo two years ago. I can't believe that much time has already passed by.
Anyway, the reason I got another tattoo was partly because I realized that getting a tattoo isn't as painful as I imagined it to be! Also, I wanted to put another permanent reminder on my body. You might ask, so what kind of reminder does your second tattoo imply?
First of all, let me share the tatoo design I found on Pinterest. It is a lily of the valley design as I am fond of flowers and I liked the symbol of this particular one.
This flower symbolizes absolute purity, youth, sincerity, and discretion. But most importantly, it symbolizes happiness. This joyful symbolism means that it’s very important to give someone you love a bunch of lilies. Thus, my little reminder to be my own source of happiness and love!
There is an old tradition of giving lilies of the valley every 1st of May. "It is an old Germanic custom: a tribute to Ostara, the goddess of the coming of spring and the growing light. In order to honour this important goddess, the Germanic peoples threw lilies of the valley into celebratory bonfires as a sign of respect and to show that they believed in her divinity."
Since I've been meaning to get another tatoo, it was good timing when a friend of mine shared her recent tattoo experience with one of the known artists here in Cebu - @i.janedeleon.
I instantly booked an appointment with her, tagging along that same friend who, at the same time, wanted another tattoo again. Another friend who wanted to get her first tattoo also joined us.
I was very confident that this one's going to be as harmless as my first one. But since my preferred spot had only a thin layer of skin, which was the side of my wrist, oh boy, it was actually more painful than my first tattoo!
I was humbled by the unexpected pain but I also learned that there are different pain levels, depending on which area of your body you want your tattoo be placed.
But don't get me wrong, I did not regret getting my second tattoo at all. I was so happy after our session and I was only hoping my parents won't deny me as their child! (They did not but I sure did receive an earful from both of them 😬)
What do you think of my second tattoo? Let me know in the comments!
Thank you for reading my post up to this point. I hope you have a great time ahead!
I'll take delight in writing for you again soon.
Love,
Sam ♡
Hello, in case you have not read my intro post, my name is Samantha. You may call me Sam for short. I am from Cebu, a beautiful island in the Philippines. I created this space in an attempt to put all the good things in one place, thus, my blog name @wholesamdiaries.
Let's connect! I'd be glad to discover more amazing people here. Thank you once again and see you around! ♡
It's great that you identified a design with meaning that resonates with you, and it's great that you found an artist that you connected with. Lovely design:)
Thank you for dropping by! :)
Oh, you just gave me the idea to get a tattoo as well. I feel like it would be a great reminder of something I always want to keep in mind. What's the pain level if you would rate it 1-10?
Hello, @cli4d! If I were to rate it, I'd say 7/10 but it's important to consider your pain tolerance as well. For me, I believe I have high pain tolerance (or nasanay nalang siguro sa sakit awww) hahahaha. And also, if you choose an area with thin layer of skin, that would be more painful.
Wahhh i'm so inggit(눈‸눈), im all just plan pero di naman nagagawa, lol.
I like your choice of tattoo, simple yet very meaningful. It symbolizes something amazing, and if J want a tattoo in my body, I also want something that is meaningful. But till now I can't decided what design to get. Anyhow, I'm curious how much for that small tattoo (⊙_◎)
Hello, @ruffatotmeee! I'm sure there's a perfect time for you to get one. No pressure lang hehe.
This one only cost me 500 pesos because of the artist's promo. But usually, the tattoo prices here in Cebu ranges from 1500-3000 for a 2-inch-max tattoo. The price really depends on the artist and the area.
