This was my first experience with rogue-likes and at first, like many people, I was a bit confused as to why I had none of my gear on the next run and the next. Then upon realizing that this is actually how the game is SUPPOSED To be I didn't stay interested for a lot longer. For me, this game didn't really have what I wanted as far as the overall experience was concerned but I can totally understand why others would like it. I just remember getting really frustrated if I didn't get a weapon drop that I really wanted at the start.
I don't care for most rogue-likes with the one true exceptions in my mind being Hades.

This to me is a game that is fun to hop in and out of periodically, never getting deploy invested. It's very simple fun and I'm usually done after I die at the end of one long run. Its hard to start over right away, but if you take a few days off it's easy to get back into.
I played Hollow Knight before Dead Cells, but both are great games that love to punish you. Hades is still on my radar, waiting for it to get added to PS Plus because I know it will eventually.
I think you will understand where I am coming from when you play Hades. That game is fantastic and unless I dreamed it, I am pretty sure there is a sequel coming out in the not too distant future. If so, that will probably be when the PS-Plus lets you have the first one for free.
