LOH #230 || A Legacy of Magic and Ambition

If there was one word to describe my childhood, it’d be ELITE. And sadly, not because I had superpowers and was saving the world or anything like that. But because of the mix of winx club and Barbie animations that made me believe I am destined for greatness. “Am” in this context because I still strongly believe that. Even though it’s a little more than discovering and saving Fairytopia kind of greatness now.

I watched A LOT of animations as a little kid, my mum made sure we had an abundance of them but picking a favorite between Winx club and Barbie seem rather impossible as these two have had a profound effect on my views on certain matters even now as an adult.

Winx club made me believe in the transformational effect of having the right friends.

Honestly, much more than forming girl squad; having the right set of friends can set one up for greatness. Not to mention it can be the greatest support system one could ever ask for. Although, I also was eager to have a girl squad growing up, but personally, I'm not the type to be passionate about the “squad” thing.

Shifting my perspective on this is knowing that while friendship doesn’t have to be a strategic move, a “I need to make friends with her coz she’s rich” kind of thing, it’s still important to have friends that give you peace and somewhat align with your views or interest in life. There’s a quote I really love, it says, “sit me at a table where they’re talking about growth not about other people”. That's my mantra.

And for Barbie. Oh, Barbie made me believe I can be anything and everything I want to be. A ballet dancer, a multi-linguist, an artist, a musician, a vet doctor, a chemist, a chef, why be one when I can be all?

I believe Barbie had a huge part to play in my personality because, oh my God, my main character syndrome is out of this world. But then, who’s going to be the main character in my life if not me? The confidence, the elegance, the "I will always find a way" energy, that’s Barbie’s legacy. How I see the world in a rainbow lens? How my head is full of creativity? Probably an inborn trait but certainly, watching all 42 Barbie animations and the ability to sing along to every single Barbie soundtrack sure must have had something to do with it.

Fun fact, I do love that for me. I’ve said it multiple times that I’m going to ensure my kids also grow up watching Barbie like I did. Such a good influence, those animations. Such purity and the way it just convinces you that you be anything you hope to be? That’s exactly what kids need to get adapted to before transitioning into adulthood. But hey, imagine me in the living room singing along to Barbie, island princess, “Sun goes down and we are here together” with my little girl, how cute is that? 🥰

Now, unto the present, grown me is still figuring out her own magic. And that is exactly the part of my life that I really enjoy right now. Simply becoming HER while already being her. Allow me to explain.

One, I’ve embraced my own beauty. No need for wings, fairy wand or sparkly glittery transformation, self-confidence does the trick. Future me is an extremely confident woman who’s out there speaking, inspiring and motivating women on how to become self-confident, have a high self-esteem and all that details on femininity, present me however, is walking that path to becoming HER.

Two, I’m chasing the bag, lol. Barbie had a dream-house and so will I.

And three, I’m living for me, not waiting for a prince charming or a magical transformation, just living daily ensuring the woman I am today is better than the woman I was yesterday, that progressive glow-up.

And you know what? I think childhood me would be so proud to see that.

So no, I didn’t become a spy or fairy (yet, lol), but I did become a woman who walks into a room like she belongs there. And tell me, what could possibly be better than that?

You had an amazing experience during your childhood, and I love how you learnt positively from what you watch

I love something about your post and I learned from it, the part that says "sit me at a table where they’re talking about growth not about other people”...
The quote will not only make you to be careful, but know the kind of people you associate with
Thanks for sharing this with us🤗
