In today's age of information overload, attention by itself has emerged as a store of value. Unlike traditional currencies attention is neither minted nor regulated, it is in essence distributed across time, focus and desire. Platforms, influencers and the need for engagement all compete for this finite resource.
Now open up to this new idea instead of treating attention as a resource, what if we treat it as a universal currency for exchange of value, trust building, participation and gradual empowerment.
Why Attention is more valuable than traditional monetary system ?
Scarcity: Each individual on this planet has only 24 hours and perhaps only a fraction of it is available for engagement. This scarcity makes attention naturally valuable.
Economic Engine: Every business throughout the world spends billions to capture the attention of consumers through various content strategies.
As tools of empowerment: Attention economy as we know it allows individual creators, entrepreneurs to transform innovative ideas into something tangible which leads to higher social influence and income.
Could these and more reasons be why we must reconsider the idea of attention not just as a valuable resource but also as a kind of universal currency that is available to everyone, just like time.
