Trabajando en una de mis metas del 2024: Aprender portugués (Es-En)

Hola amigos, hace ya varios días compartía con ustedes mi tablero de visión, y en el aspecto personal, una de las metas que me propuse cumplir este año fue seguir estudiando portugués para poder hablarlo de manera fluida. Ya estamos bastante avanzados en el primer mes del año y no he estado perdiendo el tiempo, pues he estado bastante enfocada en esto. A continuación les cuento sobre lo que he estado haciendo para aprender este idioma.

Hi friends, several days ago I shared with you my vision board, and on the personal side, one of the goals I set for myself this year was to continue studying Portuguese in order to be able to speak it fluently. We are already well into the first month of the year and I have not been wasting time, as I have been quite focused on this. Below I will tell you about what I have been doing to learn this language.

Primero que todo, quiero decir que en estos momentos soy una principiante en este idioma, por lo que todavía no me siento cómoda para mantener una conversación con alguien, pero poco a poco voy avanzando. También me ayuda bastante que el portugués sea un idioma muy parecido a mi lengua materna: el español.

First of all, I want to say that at the moment I am a beginner in this language, so I still don't feel comfortable to have a conversation with someone, but little by little I am making progress. It also helps me a lot that Portuguese is a language very similar to my mother tongue: Spanish.

Bien, lo primero es estudiar todos los días, tener ese contacto diario, aunque sea mínimo, con el idioma que estés aprendiendo es muy importante. Ahora, hay 3 cosas que me han estado ayudando bastante y a continuación se las comparto:

Well, the first thing is to study every day, to have that daily contact, even if it is minimal, with the language you are learning is very important. Now, there are 3 things that have been helping me a lot and I will share them below:

#1 Estudiar con Duolingo

Esta es una aplicación que muchas personas usan a nivel mundial para aprender idiomas. Confieso que al principio no me parecía tan buena, pero una vez que empecé a usarla a diario, realmente noté que era bastante buena y he podido sentir un avance en mi aprendizaje. Actualmente tengo una racha de 39 días, que son los días que he estado usando la aplicación diariamente.

#1 Study with Duolingo

This is an application that many people use worldwide to learn languages. I confess that at first it didn't seem so good to me, but once I started using it daily, I really noticed that it was quite good and I have been able to feel an advance in my learning. I am currently on a 39 day streak, which is how many days I have been using the application daily.

Me gusta mucho que en ella puedas practicar las cuatro habilidades básicas para aprender un idioma: audición; lectura; expresión oral y escritura, ya que los ejercicios son bastante integradores. Además, enriqueces mucho el vocabulario y se aprende la gramática de manera natural, al aprender palabras y conjugaciones de verbos siempre en contexto.

I really like that you can practice the four basic skills to learn a language: listening, reading, speaking and writing, since the exercises are very integrative. In addition, you enrich your vocabulary and learn grammar in a natural way, as you learn words and verb conjugations always in context.

Si estás aprendiendo algún idioma te sugiero que te descargues esta aplicación y empieces a usarla, verás que es muy buena.

#2 Aprender con vídeos en Youtube

En Youtube hay muchos videos para aprender cualquier cosa, y los idiomas no son la excepción. Ahí te puedes encontrar con canales buenísimos donde alguien, que puede ser profesor o no, te ayuda a mejorar el idioma que estés aprendiendo. Los vídeos de YouTube siempre me han ayudado a mejorar mi inglés, así que decidí usar el mismo método para aprender portugués. Sin embargo, toda la información que hay en internet te puede agobiar, así que es mejor ir poco a poco.

En mi búsqueda encontré un canal que se llama "Portugués com Lina", y me gustó bastante sus videos y la forma tan clara en la que habla y explica.
También sigo a un youtuber que se llama Phillipe Brazuca, que habla rapidísimo pero logró entenderlo bastante bien.

#2 Learning with videos on Youtube

On Youtube there are many videos to learn anything, and languages are no exception. There you can find great channels where someone, who may or may not be a teacher, helps you to improve the language you are learning. YouTube videos have always helped me improve my English, so I decided to use the same method to learn Portuguese. However, all the information on the internet can overwhelm you, so it's best to take it one step at a time.

In my search I found a channel called "Portugués com Lina", and I quite liked her videos and the clear way she speaks and explains.
I also follow a youtuber called Phillipe Brazuca, who speaks very fast but managed to understand it quite well.

Lo que me gusta de estos dos canales es que te enseñan las cosas básicas del portugués, además de mucho vocabulario y pronunciación, que es muy importante, además de que todo el tiempo hablan en portugués y así me voy familiarizando con la entonación y ritmo de este bello idioma.

What I like about these two channels is that they teach you the basics of Portuguese, plus a lot of vocabulary and pronunciation, which is very important, plus they speak in Portuguese all the time so I get familiar with the intonation and rhythm of this beautiful language.

#3 Escuchar podcasts en portugués

Este método de aprendizaje lo incorporé recientemente, pero ya venía pensando hacerlo hace un rato. Para esto busqué un vídeo en Youtube que me diera las mejores opciones de podcasts para aprender portugués y entre las recomendaciones que ví me quedé con el podcast de "Speaking Brazilian".

La verdad me parece muy bueno, ya que es un podcast para principiantes y no es de un tema como películas o música, sino que la creadora del mismo es profesora de portugués y en todos los episodios nos enseña sobre el idioma. Su forma de hablar es muy clara y calmada, especial para mi nivel actual. A medida que vaya avanzando podré escuchar podcasts más avanzados.

Siempre trato de buscar el tiempo para poder oírlo y concentrarme, la mayoría de las veces lo hago mientras hago las tareas del hogar como fregar y limpiar 😅. Lo importante es tener material para escuchar y aprender al mismo tiempo.

#3 Listening to Portuguese podcasts

I recently incorporated this learning method, but I had been thinking about doing it for a while. For this I looked for a video on Youtube that would give me the best options of podcasts to learn Portuguese and among the recommendations I saw, I chose the "Speaking Brazilian" podcast.

I think it is a very good podcast, since it is a podcast for beginners and it is not about a topic like movies or music, but the creator is a Portuguese teacher and in all the episodes she teaches us about the language. Her way of speaking is very clear and calm, especially for my current level. As I progress I will be able to listen to more advanced podcasts.

I always try to find the time to be able to listen to it and concentrate, most of the time I do it while doing household chores like doing the dishes and cleaning 😅. The important thing is to have material to listen to and learn at the same time.
