Mi estancia en Boa Vista: una parada necesaria en el camino (ESP/ENG)

Hola amigos, espero que estén muy bien. Hace unos días terminaba de contarles sobre mi experiencia al viajar de Cuba a Brasil, una travesía un poco difícil pero que tuvo un final feliz. En solo 3 días ya habíamos llegado a Brasil, pero ese no sería el final de nuestro camino, pues habíamos llegado a Boa Vista, pero nuestro destino final era el estado de Santa Catarina que se encuentra en el sur del país, pues allí nos estaba esperando mi hermano.

Teníamos un largo recorrido por delante, la travesía aún no había acabado, pero la parte más difícil ya había quedado atrás 🙏🏻. Llegamos a la ciudad en la noche del jueves 29 de febrero y nos hospedaron en el Hotel Amazonica. No podíamos seguir avanzando sin tener la documentación legal necesaria, por lo que tuvimos que quedarnos en la ciudad de Boa Vista unos días hasta poder hacer los papeles.

Hello friends, I hope you are very well. A few days ago I finished telling you about my experience traveling from Cuba to Brazil, a journey that was a bit difficult but had a happy ending. In only 3 days we had already arrived in Brazil, but that would not be the end of our journey, because we had arrived in Boa Vista, but our final destination was the state of Santa Catarina which is located in the south of the country, because my brother was waiting for us there.

We had a long journey ahead of us, the crossing was not over yet, but the hardest part was already behind us 🙏🏻. We arrived in the city on the night of Thursday, February 29 and were put up at the Amazonica Hotel. We could not move forward without having the necessary legal documentation, so we had to stay in the city of Boa Vista for a few days until we could get the paperwork done.

El hotel

Estuvimos como alrededor de 5 o 6 días en el hotel, pues tuvimos que esperar hasta el lunes para poder ir a sacar los papeles, por lo que estuvimos todo el fin de semana descansando y disfrutando de las comodidades del hotel. Para empezar teníamos la wifi gratis del hotel, también teníamos aire acondicionado y un televisor en donde pudimos ver toda la programación en portugués, así nos íbamos familiarizando con el idioma un poco 😅. También habían tres camas grandes, una pequeña nevera y el baño.

Prácticamente no salíamos de la habitación, pues afuera había mucho calor, solo fuimos una vez a almorzar y los demás días compramos la comida para llevar. También salimos a unas tiendas cercas de la zona a comparar algo de comida para tener durante el día, nos encantó poder comer naranjas, pues hacía mucho tiempo no las comíamos en Cuba. Esos pocos días de descanso era algo que necesitábamos después del recorrido que habíamos hecho para llegar, y los disfrutamos muy bien.

The hotel

We stayed about 5 or 6 days in the hotel, because we had to wait until Monday to go to get the papers, so we spent the whole weekend resting and enjoying the amenities of the hotel. For starters we had the hotel's free wifi, we also had air conditioning and a TV where we could watch all the programming in Portuguese, so we were getting familiar with the language a little 😅. There were also three large beds, a small fridge and the bathroom.

We practically never left the room, as it was very hot outside, we only went out for lunch once and on the other days we bought food to take away. We also went out to some stores near the area to buy some food to have during the day, we loved being able to eat oranges, as we had not eaten them in Cuba for a long time. Those few days of rest were something we needed after the journey we had made to get there, and we enjoyed them a lot.

El paseo

Durante todo ese tiempo, Bryan, nuestro guía, nos acompañó y estuvo pendiente de nosostros. Incluso el sábado en la noche nos invitó a comer pizzas y nos dió un recorrido por la ciudad. Las pizzas estaban deliciosas y cuando oímos al pizzero hablar enseguida supimos que era cubano y Bryan nos lo confirmó. Que lindo es reconocer ese acento cubano en cualquier lugar, siempre hay que estar orgullosos de nuestras raíces.

The walk

During all that time, Bryan, our guide, accompanied us and kept an eye on us. Even on Saturday night he treated us to pizzas and gave us a tour of the city. The pizzas were delicious and when we heard the pizza man speak we knew he was Cuban and Bryan confirmed it. How nice it is to recognize that Cuban accent anywhere, we should always be proud of our roots.

Los papeles

Después de un fin de semana relajante llegó la hora de hacer los papeles. Para ello tuvimos que estar desde el domingo por la noche en la policía federal. Allí tuvimos que marcar y quedarnos toda la madrugada para amanecer el lunes y poder ser de los primeros en la fila. Impresionante la cantidad de inmigrantes que vimos allí, sobre todo venezolanos.

The papers

After a relaxing weekend it was time to do the papers. For this we had to be since Sunday night at the federal police. There we had to check in and stay all morning to wake up on Monday and be among the first in line. Impressive the amount of immigrants we saw there, especially Venezuelans.

Cuando el lugar abrió y entramos se nos explicó todo muy bien, y fuimos avanzando de una fila en otra. A todos nos sorprendió el nivel de organización con el que se trabaja en ese lugar, a pesar de haber tantas personas allí tratando de sacar sus papeles. Les diré que gracias a mi abuela que tiene 72 años y es considerada prioridad por las leyes de este país, pudimos seguir avanzando y en la tarde pasamos por varias mesas y nos pusieron en el sistema.

Tuvimos que regresar al otro día, pues es un proceso bastante largo, pero por suerte esta vez no tuvimos que madrugar. Finalmente y otra vez, gracias a mi abuela logramos salir de allí a las 3 de la tarde con todos nuestros papeles legales.

When the place opened and we went in, everything was explained to us very well, and we moved from one line to another. We were all amazed at the level of organization at that place, despite the fact that there were so many people there trying to get their papers. I will tell you that thanks to my grandmother who is 72 years old and is considered a priority by the laws of this country, we were able to keep moving and in the afternoon we went through several tables and were put into the system.

We had to come back the next day, as it is quite a long process, but luckily this time we did not have to get up early. Finally and again, thanks to my grandmother we managed to get out of there at 3pm with all our legal papers.

Al siguiente día partimos hacia Santa Catarina, ya teníamos muchas ganas de ver a mi hermano y a mi primo, pero sería un recorrido bastante largo, eso se los contaré en otro post. Gracias por leer hasta aquí, cuídense y nos vemos 🤗🤗🤗.
