The Japanese Snow Monkeys.

While in Japan last year there was one thing that was on the top of my bucket list and that was to get to know the Japanese snow monkeys and that I did these snow monkeys also known as the Japanese Macaques were just so fascinating and cute dressed up in a thick furry coat with there shiny red faces made them look like just the most beautiful monkeys on this planet.

The most extraordinary ability about these Japanese snow monkeys is how they can thrive in freezing cold snow conditions at temperatures often falling below zero unlike tropical monkeys. There favorite part time amusement is them soaking in hot springs grooming themselves while the snow is falling around them and this is what I saw Jigokudani Monkey Park this is part of their winter routine and fascinating to watch just like humans gathered in a hot jacuzzi.

What I noticed with these Snow Monkeys is they are very intelligence have a remarkable tolerance of behavior and are very sociable.

The equipment used was all Nikon. Early shots with a D70, later shots with 2 x D3 bodies.
