Perception.. Real Talk Wk2

Hello friends of The Real Talk and Hive! Welcome to my blog. This week's prompt is: Do you think people are more shaped by the truth they face or by the lies they believe?

I think we are shaped by perception. Whatever we decide to believe in, from the information this world has to offer, is what shapes us. That's why we are constantly evolving and trying out different crazy things in life.

Take addiction for example. Ask an addict why they're an addict, and they'll say they find joy and peace in their addiction. Aren't joy and peace true? Maybe they, the addicts, aren't addicts and we who judge, are the addicts. Perception.

That's why I don't think I can pick one and leave the other.

When growing up, we depended solely on our parents' guidance. They shaped our lives according to what they thought was best for us; on their grounded beliefs. Some of which we adopted, some of which we question in our daily lives and make a mental note to seek the "truth".

Sometimes, I wonder if anything at all is real. I mean, yes, we exist, but again, the information on which we depend on to shape our lives keeps on changing every day. It's hard to really pinpoint if the truth is really the truth. Maybe I'm confusing myself here. It might be true, to the person conveying it, but to the one on the receiving end, it's just another lie. Both truths and lies came from people who believed that they were right to the core. They're their truths, but to the world receiving, we tend to favor one against the other, and that favorism makes it easy/hard to name a truth and/or a lie.

Think of it as the 6/9 analogy. We get provided with the same information, and we take it and apply it in our daily lives. Then, when it works out for you, you believe it to be true, and if it fails me, I will see it as just another lie. It is neither a truth nor a lie, it's just information that our minds decide to interpret differently. You saw the six and I saw the nine but all there was, was information. You know, like those memes that convey a message and leave you with a "what you decide to do with this information is up to you."

Thank you for reading❤️. My name is @wamiru .

Interesting article! Well, sometimes we get stuck and confused as to what to believe. To this person, they believe whatever they believe because it favors them and become their truth and a lie for us because it's not our thing.

Even in all these, there's a truth that is above everything else and doesn't contradict a thing.

Maybe I'm thinking it too much🤭, but being in an era of learning, un-learning and re-learning comes with a lot of mental rewiring. Like sometimes, I have to rely solely on intuition and patience to understand information, and then choose what works best for me as my truth.

That's okay, as long as it works best for you and doesn't affect others.

Yeah, I agree. It shouldn't affect others🥰

You made a point,a few times lies and truths depend on perception and discernment...

What we might perceive to be lies or truths depends on already existing information in our database.

Yeah it does. And even that information keeps on changing.
