In the heart of Jordan, the capital town of Guimaras, lies a surprisingly quaint and lively little gem known as the smallest plaza. This hidden spot packs more history, culture and color than you might expect from its modest size, and it’s the perfect place to take a leisurely stroll, soak up the local atmosphere, and experience what makes Guimaras truly special.

The Plaza’s Ambiance🍃
The weather on my visit was balmy and breezy, typical of a tropical island, with the sun playing peekaboo through the clouds. The air was warm, with just the right amount of breeze to keep things comfortable. It’s the kind of weather that makes you want to relax under the shade of the old trees, and that’s exactly what I did. You can hear the soft rustle of leaves, the chirping of birds, and the laughter of locals going about their day. The plaza is peaceful, yet somehow full of life.. Small in size, but never short of character.

Key Attractions

The Statuesque Centerpiece
Standing proudly at the center of the plaza is a statue of a Dr. Jose Rizal.. a symbol of history, dressed in a formal, yet slightly theatrical pose. The surrounding Roman warrior costumes placed near the base make you feel like you’ve stepped into a time warp. It's a tribute to Guimaras’ heritage, and the juxtaposition of historical figures with fun local elements adds charm to this small but significant space.

Floral Perfection🌹
Around the plaza, lush flower beds burst with colors, as if the earth itself is showing off its brightest blooms. It’s clear that the townsfolk take pride in their beloved plaza, and the vibrant flowers make a perfect backdrop for that Instagram shot.

I couldn’t resist picking up a colorful keychain as a souvenir, perfect to remind me of my visit while I relaxed on one of the plaza's benches, watching the world go by.
