When Life Doesn’t Give You Kutsinta… Eat the Other Kakanin

Yesterday was Sunday..
and if you're from the Philippines, you know what that means: it's market day! 🎉

I woke up with one thing in mind,, KUTSINTA
I had just seen @mayt’s post full of colorful kakanin like sapin-sapin, kutsinta, and other sweet sticky goodness. Naturally, my cravings kicked in like a hungry ninja🤣

So I did what every wise wife does… I sent my husband to the market. 😌
Mission: Operation Kutsinta

Plot Twist…

He came back, I checked the bag, my heart skipped a beat,,and not in the romantic way.
No kutsinta. 😭

Apparently, kutsinta was the first to sell out.
I mean, same. Who wouldn’t fight for that chewy brown beauty?

BUT WAIT! There’s more…

Instead, he brought home these:

🥥 Puto Lanson – the golden, fluffy, cassava-filled surprise
🔥 Bibingka – the classic rice cake, lightly burnt, perfectly soft, and wrapped in banana leaves

At first, I pouted. Just a little. But then I took a bite… And wow.

These golden babies were soft, slightly chewy, and had that mild sweetness that pairs perfectly with coffee or tsaa

Bonus : there was a surprise inside,, bits of "bukayo" or sweetened shredded coconut,, A whole plot twist in one bite ✨

Now THIS was the real underdog of the day.
That toasted top? I love it.. the edges are a bit crispy and the inside is soft and creamy..

And yes, I accidentally ate three. Okay, four. Don’t judge. 😅

Sometimes, life won’t give you the kutsinta you asked for.

But it will surprise you with something just as good… maybe even better. ❤️

So here’s to all the unexpected kakanin moments.
And to husbands who still come home with snacks even when your fave is sold out.
