Filipino Food: Would you like to try any of these?

Hello, to all members of Asean Hive Community..
Hope everyone's doing great today..

Every time my husband goes out, he won't come back without getting us something to eat.. 😁 He's afraid we'll be starving when he gets back.. 😆

So, I had this idea to share a few of the foods he bought for us, today..
Please let me know if you have similar foods in your country and how you guys call them.. I would love to know.. 😊

Now, let's start with my favorite of all,, BALUT!!!!

1.jpg2.jpg

BALUT is a fertilized duck egg.. they're usually 14-21 days old before they can be boiled and eaten.. There are 2 types of BALUT..

3.jpg

The first one is the regular balut with partially developed embryo.. for me, that's the best part.. 😁

so, we usually crack the top of the egg,, then sip the savory liquid inside,, then eat the soft embryo, and lastly the white part..
It's a popular street food here in my country.. and people enjoys it with a pinch of salt or vinegar..

second, is the balut penoy.. there is no visible embryo because it failed to develop before being harvested.. if you like trying balut but don't want to eat those little legs and beak, penoy is the best choice..

next on the list is the KALAMAY HATI..

5a.jpg5b.jpg

This is a sticky but sweet delicacy.. This is made with glutinous rice flour, coconut milk, and muscovado or brown sugar.. some people eat it as a spread for bread, but I like to eat it straight as a snack..

Lastly, is the MAJA BLANCA

6a.jpg6b.jpg

It's like a filipino style pudding.. made from coconut milk, cornstarch and sugar.. you can also add corn.. cheese is usually for the topping.. it is creamy and sweet..

Those are the 3 foods we enjoyed today.. thanks to my husband.. 😁

Thank you so much for reading and please let me know which one would you like to try or have tried...
Have a great day, everyone..

Kalamay hati used to be my favorite. Remembered how we would spent time cooking and mixing. Those old days.

Been decades I haven't had a taste.

Your husband is so thoughtful, that’s really sweet! The food you shared looks delicious especially the balut. Even though there was so much food during Christmas and new year, seeing your post suddenly made me crave balut too.
