Day 1 of My Fun Birthday Travel

"This is the best weekend I ever had!" π
Hello to all Hivers!! I hope you are all doing great, today.. π
It's been a few days since my last post because I went on a tiring but fun weekend getaway with my family.. π
because... it's my birthday πππ
Now, let me walk you through our first day π
We live far away from the city, so we need to travel early. First, was the jeepney ride.

The sky was clear in the morning despite the forecast of heavy rain. We can feel the cool breeze of fresh morning air while we ride the open jeepney.
Next, was the ferry ride.

Since we live on an island, we need to travel by ferry. It was a smooth ride. No big waves or strong winds. Saying goodbye, Guimaras for now. π
Upon arriving at the port, the sky went gloomy and started to rain. It was just an hour away, but the weather was totally different. So we decided to take a taxi.

The city has improved a lot over the past few years. Some streets are now colorful.
After a few minutes, we arrived at the hotel.

We unpacked our stuff and decided where to go next. My daughter was starving, so we ate our lunch before heading to our first destination.
After lunch, we headed to Molo Church.

This church is a historic Spanish-colonial church and one of the famous landmarks in Iloilo City. We saw a few foreign people taking pictures of the church.
In front of the church is the Molo Plaza.

A lot of people were roaming around including locals and foreigners.

There's also a playground for kids to play. Some facilities were old and broken.
After taking a few pictures around the church and the plaza, we decided to go across the plaza,,, to the Molo Mansion.

This is one of the most iconic heritage houses in Iloilo City. I think this was owned by the Consing family a hundred years ago. But it's now owned by private entities.
Visitors are welcome to enter the mansion for free.

There were a lot of souvenir items you could buy inside the mansion. From jewelry, clothes, bags, sunglasses, mugs and keychains.

And when you go outside, you can see a lot of cafes and restaurants.
We got tired of roaming around, so we decided to head back to the hotel.
But on the way there, we passed by the colorful bridge. So cute π

We took a few pictures and headed to the Hotel. We ate dinner and planned where to go next π
After finishing dinner, my daughter wanted to watch a movie.

We let her go in alone, and my husband and I decided to go out and take more pictures. It was already dark, but the streets were bright because of the colorful buildings and streetlights.

π This is the bike lane where sakura trees are growing, but since it's dark, we didn't take pictures of the trees. π
While walking, we came across a nearby carnival. So, we decided to try our luck. π

We lost to different games with a total of 3 HBD π
not bad, and we had fun.
We walked again and went to Plazuela.

A live band was playing while some people were having dinner.
The rest of the evening was spent walking around the Plazuela and Southpoint.

After we got tired of walking and taking photos, we decided to head back to check on our daughter.
That was a tiring day, but I was really happy to see the city's beauty again.
I didn't have a birthday cake today, but it was so memorable.
If you made it here, thank you so much.. β€οΈ
