Hoy continuo con la serie que nace de caminar sin prisa y mirar con intención.
Continúo esta serie con una mirada que no viene del mar, sino del corazón del barrio.
Si en el primer capítulo la ciudad se abría al litoral, hoy se recoge en un parque, El Parque René Fraga, un espacio donde Matanzas se sienta, respira y se reconoce.

Este parque no nació como un adorno urbano. Surgió de una necesidad social, crear un lugar para el encuentro, el juego y la vida comunitaria. Fue concebido como un espacio para niños, jóvenes y familias, donde el tiempo pudiera gastarse sin prisa y con sentido. No como monumento, sino como lugar vivo.

Aquí no solo hay bancos y árboles.
Hay risas, conversaciones que se heredan,
y tardes que parecen iguales, pero nunca lo son.

El René Fraga ha sido, durante años, un punto de reunión del barrio. En él caben tanto el deporte como la cultura, tanto el juego como la charla tranquila al final del día. Es uno de esos sitios que no salen en las postales turísticas, pero sostienen la ciudad desde adentro.

En mis fotos no quise buscar lo espectacular, ni tampoco pretendo resaltar su maravillosa construcción, que si lo es, a pesar de los años y el descuido y la falta de mantenimientos que toda obra lleva. El parque se mantiene bastante bien. En sí quería resaltar lo verdadero,
niños corriendo sin medir el tiempo,
adultos que se sientan sin apuro,
personas que no están “de paso”, sino que pertenecen. Es un punto de encuentro a diferentes horas del dia para hacer ejercicios, jugar pelota o un partido de futbol. Otros incluso vienen de barrios mas alejados a jugar tenis.

El Parque René Fraga no presume.
Simplemente cumple.
Y en una ciudad como Matanzas, eso ya es mucho decir.

Esta serie seguirá siendo eso,

miradas a lo cotidiano,
a lo que pasa desapercibido,
a lo que sigue ahí incluso cuando no lo nombramos.

Esta fue la segunda.

The park where the neighborhood is located

Hello #worldmappin community, once again I return to this community.
Today I continue with the series that is born from walking without hurry and looking with intention.
I continue this series with a look that does not come from the sea, but from the heart of the neighborhood.
If in the first chapter the city opened itself to the shoreline, today it gathers itself in a park, René Fraga Park, a space where Matanzas sits, breathes, and recognizes itself.

This park was not born as an urban ornament. It arose from a social need: to create a place for meeting, play, and community life. It was conceived as a space for children, youth, and families, where time could be spent without hurry and with meaning. Not as a monument, but as a living place.

Here there are not only benches and trees.
There is laughter, conversations that are passed down,
and afternoons that seem the same, but never are.

René Fraga has been, for years, a meeting point for the neighborhood. In it there is room for both sport and culture, for both play and calm conversation at the end of the day. It is one of those places that do not appear on tourist postcards, but sustain the city from within.

In my photos I did not want to look for the spectacular, nor do I intend to highlight its wonderful construction, which it is, despite the years and the neglect and lack of maintenance that every work carries. The park remains in fairly good condition. I really wanted to highlight the true,
children running without measuring time,
adults who sit without hurry,
people who are not “just passing through,” but who belong. It is a meeting point at different times of the day to exercise, play ball, or a soccer match. Others even come from more distant neighborhoods to play tennis.

René Fraga Park does not boast.
It simply fulfills.
And in a city like Matanzas, that is already a lot to say.

This series will continue to be that,

looks at the everyday,
at what goes unnoticed,
at what is still there even when we don’t name it.
