I'm going to lay this brick as perfectly as a brick can be laid and you do it every day, soon you have a wall.

Will Smith.

Hello architecture and design community, delighted to greet you and wish you an excellent and prosperous week.

On this occasion I share my visit to the Santa Catalina church, in the city of Carúpano, capital of the Bermúdez municipality in the state of Sucre, which stands out for its warm beaches and large architectural constructions that show the variety of designs with European influence from countries like France, Spain and Germany.
Carúpano is a coastal city with beautiful landscapes that invite visitors to tour and explore its outstanding spaces.

According to the information of a resident the church was built in the XIX century and it stands out for its facade and two towers, in which the bell tower is located; while taking the photos a bird flew very close to the sculpture of Santa Catalina that is located in the central nave in a small altar and to each side of this there are three windows in form of semi-arch, in the superior part it has an iron cross with endings in circles, in addition a circle surrounds the union of the tubes that form the cross.

The main door has a semi-arched shape and on each side a column that serves as support for the cornice formed by several layers or strips of reinforced concrete, in the front part there are also some striking circular flower-shaped windows located near the columns and in each of the towers, these in turn have a small dome at the top and a cross on each of them. The church is light yellow and white.

The interior design of the church is impressive, it has beautiful columns located in the side nave that in turn form several arches, covered with sheets of marble, and these in turn serve as a base for the ceiling and a strip of glass where They locate colorful stained glass windows. They are located; The ceiling is gold and light yellow and is decorated by a mosaic of squares and small vertical and horizontal lines that separate the squares, in the center of each one there is a small gold square.

The lamps are located along the entire aisle and are flower-shaped, the floor is made of granite and the wooden benches are very well organized following the pattern of the columns, at the entrance there are information boards where you can read the program of activities and services performed by the parish during the week.

To walk the streets of Carúpano is to go into the history of a city that during the colony had a very important role as it was the center of operations of several European companies located in the peninsula of Paria, which stands out for its great tourism and fishing potential, also has one of the largest markets in the country where you get a variety of products such as; Flores handicrafts, food in general, vegetables, typical sweets of the region and fresh fish in the morning hours.

Knowing this part of the city was a great experience, in previous occasions my visits were focused on the specific points where I did the errands; this time I took the time to walk and observe the streets of the city as well as its great buildings and places of recreation and family fun. See you in the next publication, may God fill you with health and peace.

Greetings @virgilio07, It is clear that this church has a rich history dating back to the colonial period. Architectural elements of high historical value can be seen outside and inside the church. If the photos were brighter, many interesting places could have been seen. Appreciate your effort though.
