Would You Be Buying The Framework 16 Laptop?
What Framework has done as a company is nothing short of incredible. They have accomplished what many mega corporations have failed. The team has been incredible at hardware design which is rarity among startups. Most technology startups are focused on software. Their latest iteration of Framework 16 is an excellent product that is set to be shipping in November.
What you saw is the product announcement featuring the CEO of the company. It felt closer to a tech review than a regular product announcement one would see from Big Tech with marketcap in 12 - 13 figures. It is a tough road ahead for Framework to get to the level of Big Tech giants. What Framework can certainly have is a massive impact on the culture and maintain a near monopoly over the market that care about having a desktop in a laptop form factor.
A peek into their R&D process shows how much they try to do things. If Framework is doing things in a particular way, there is a very good reason why they are doing it. The reasoning is clearly explained. My question to the readers is whether you could see yourself buying one of these desktops in a laptop form factor?
