I was about to do a task (voyagers) in OpenSea on Ethereum. It turns out that you had to buy a NFT of at least $5 dollars. Ok, I'm going to do it, I said! Super simple.
I didn't factor in the gas commissions. So I lost money on doing the bridge, then when I already had the funds I wanted to buy them. It charged me to go from WETH to ETH, and when I finally found a NFT from a collection at a considerable price, the cost to sign the contract was almost $4. Knowing that I was not interested in owning it but buying and selling it, they meant almost $8. So I passed on that task. Apart for 50 XP? It doesn't make a difference.
Sometimes what is supposed to be simple becomes a headache!

Sometimes what we think is simple is very complicated. In the case of ETH transactions these have a very high cost.
Yes, and I'm surprised, because gas was not so expensive the other time. But this last time it got much more expensive.
I've traded ETH and that's the downside. Gas with the solana network is a bit more accessible, i.e. modest. But in the case of what you needed is with that network. At the end of the day it depends a lot on what one needs at the moment.
