Would you buy this beautiful Hive watch?

@lordbutterfly is currently working on a merchandise project, a Hive watch in the lower to mid-range luxury segment with a Swiss movement (Sellita SW200).

I really like the diving watch design, if it really looks like the AI-generated image, with the red hexagonal background, the Hive logo, and the black and red strap. I still need to get used to the block design of the hour hand, but overall I find the design appealing.

How do you like the Hive watch? Would you buy one? It depends on the price, which will probably not be super cheap due to the small first series (100 pieces).

Unfortunately I don't wear a watch. But if it said HBD I would think about it.

I would love to have a watch as such, but current financial situation probably wouldn't allow me to buy it.

As is the case with everyone. Probably why it will remain 1 of a kind. hehe

lol. It would not be cheap. Kinda the point. But you could make them for 20 bucks probably, look kinda like this. Trash materials but you know, for mass production that you give away to people at conferences, might be doable.

This is premium quality level, something I intend to give my kids to pass on as an heirloom, even if I dont make more than 1.

Understood, but before I buy, I need proof of the materials, where it is put together, etc.

My prototype has a case from China, Dial from India, movement from Switzerland, assembled in Croatia. 😅
But for any larger production runs, probably would be made by a more premium OEM like San Martin in China with Swiss parts. But depends.

Also eher nicht. Wobei, könnte ja eine Wertanlage sein 🤔

It would be like an investment, yeah. Otherwise I could have made it out of an alloy and a chinese quart movement with battery, making the watch cost 20 bucks. It would be garbage though lol.

I dont wear watches either, but ill wear this one.

Mosy definitely would if the price is right, I hope they make at least a cheap version 🥰 it's just beautiful and good representation of the community

I could make a cheap version for sure, temu level where the shipping costs more than the actual watch haha, but its really not worth my time dealing with it.
This is more in case we get a bullrun and people want something that can essentially last forever they can pass on to kids. What ill do with mine.

Oh my goodness that's a great plan, I hope everything goes well, Hive already has cool branding so creating things like this will really promote it. You guys are really geniuses and good artists

It would depend on the price, of course.

Yeah, if price is in question, its probably too expensive for you. This is entry level luxury. I personally would never spend this kind of money on a watch myself either. I did because its a Hive watch and I wanted to make something tied to Hive that exists in the real world and isnt a T-shirt. :)

I like the design of the watch. I'd probably swap the red and black strap for a classic silver one or something like that.
Really excited to see the real product.

the Hive watch is great fit especially to the ones working in a corporate environment

I don't think that I would buy it. But maybe I would wear a hive watch face.

The Hive watch looks really cool, I like the design and the Swiss movement makes it even better. The only thing is the price might be a bit high because of limited production, but it’s still a nice project.

Thanks for sharing. :)

The image is AI but it does indeed look exactly like this. The dial is in production right now, its not an easy one to do but once its finished ill share it. Radial brushing+gradient+etching.

Even though I did suggest I would create a small first series, because these are incredibly expensive to do via an OEM, around 400 USD is base production cost without tariffs, VAT, engraving on case, and shipping, the minimum cost on a small batch would be probably around 750-1000 HBD. Thats me making 100-200 HBD per watch for all my trouble. hehe.
Theres also a plan to use Hive as an authenticity verification layer through a challenge response encrypted NFC chip which adds cost but also demonstrates a use case for Hive.

In all honesty, I probably need the Hive price being much higher to do this. So it might be that the only 1 remains on my hand. Talk about uniqueness. 😋

If I can find at least 50 buyers its doable, but the question is if theres 50 people on Hive with that amount to spend. Currently, doubtful. Maybe im wrong.

I like the design and also that it will be a quality watch with a Swiss movement, but that comes also with quite a huge price tag as expected for a custom watch which is probably quite steep for many Hivers.

@lordbutterfly, it's beautiful, and if the materials used are good, it's worth the investment.

However, I’ll start by buying some silver and gold bars first, then slowly climb the ladder to afford some luxuries in life. This watch will definitely be on my wish list, though! :)

SOONISH!

One suggestion: I think the dial doesn’t give off luxurious vibes. It’s too thick in my opinion, or maybe I’m just used to watches with thinner dials. Although the quality might be the same, my brain isn’t wired to see a thick dial as luxurious. My dad bought me a lot of watches during his job in Qatar (now it's a different story, he retired). The watch on my wrist probably costs around $175, which is a lot in Pakistan, at least. I’m a watch lover with particular taste, and this thick dial with these numbers and dashes is a bit of a turn-off for me. I prefer flat, thin dials with sleek corners.

This gives a more premium look in my opinion. Most of us, especially Hivers, work online using laptops, and it’s uncomfortable to work with a heavy watch.

That one almost certainly uses a thin quartz movement, not a mechanical one. I wouldnt go for a quartz watch for this. If we had a large community where you could sell thousands, maybe :)

I think it depends on the price for me. I don't see myself using a watch much so it would have to be fairly cheap.
