Visit to Edinburgh (Edinburgh Castle, Photo Gallery)

War am Wochenende das erste Mal in Edinburgh, in Schottland. War sehr cool. Glück mit dem Wetter gehabt, super Wetter, kein Regen diesmal.

War ein bisschen schwierig die Burg von Edinburgh zu besuchen, man hätte die Tickets schon vorher online buchen müssen, Tickets wären eigentlich ausverkauft gewesen und erst am nächsten Tag online wieder buchbar, das Problem war aber, dass ich blöderweise meine Passwörter für die Online-Kreditkarten-Buchung nicht dabei hatte.

Es gab keinen Automaten oder Schalter zum Buchen von Tickets. Man wurde dazu gedrängt, die Tickets online zu buchen.

Habe dann mit einem Mitarbeiter meine Situation geschildert und ich bekam dann eine schriftliche "Permission", um ein Ticket offline kaufen zu dürfen, was nett war.

Musste dann eine Stunde warten, aber hat dann doch noch geklappt die Burg zu besichtigen :)

Was sagt ihr dazu? Wart ihr schon mal in Edinburgh? Kauft ihr alle Museums-Tickets bereits online heutzutage?

I went to Edinburgh, Scotland, for the first time at the weekend. It was very cool. Lucky with the weather, great weather, no rain this time.

It was a bit difficult to visit Edinburgh Castle, you should have booked the tickets online beforehand, tickets were actually sold out and could only be booked online again the following day, but the problem was that I stupidly didn't have my passwords for the online credit card transaction with me.

There was no machine or counter for booking tickets. Visitors were urged to book tickets online.

I then explained my situation to a staff member and was then given written “permission” to buy a ticket offline, wich was nice.

I then had to wait an hour for the timeslot, but managed to visit the castle after all :)

Have you been to Edinburgh before? Do you buy all your museum tickets online nowadays?

Although it had its complications, I’m glad to know that you were finally able to visit Edinburgh Castle and enjoy it.

I haven’t been to Edinburgh before, but I hope I can visit it someday. The castle, towering from its elevated position, looks spectacular in the photos.

Da hast du aber echt Glück gehabt. Eine sehr schöne Location.
Man kann mittlerweile sogar für Partys/ stink normale Disco Tickets online kaufen bzw. es ist empfehlenswert da es an der Abendkasse oft keine Tickets mehr hat.

Eine tolle Stadt! Ich war zwar nicht in der Burg, aber auch der Rest ist sehenswert :)

It's been years since I visited, nothing had to be done online back then! It's a very cool castle! You're fortunate to have so many historical structures not far from home, here in the US nothing like nearby... Glad you managed to get in, it seems like most places are becoming like that now. Book online in advance or no entry!

Ich liebe die Tatsache das er Prophet Jeremia in Irland begraben liegt, ich würde es mir gerne irgendwann mal ansehen, auch den Hill of Tara, die beste Königen die Irland je hatte.

That place looks very beautiful.

Not being able to buy tickets offline or needing an extra permission for it seems unnecessary. I think it should be enough if they offer online tickets, which allows you to skip the queue if people are waiting. That should encourage people to buy their tickets online and still allow people to just visit the place without the need to plan it in advance.

Nope, not yet. I'd be more interested if the castle is haunted and if there would be evening or night tours for the chance of doing a bit of ghost hunting using a camera and recording device. 👻

It looks nice. I have never been there, but an hour long wait is fairly long.
