US election censorship: Copilot refuses to answer when querying about Trump or Biden 🙈

Wie ich gestern nach der Rede von Trump auf Bing gesucht habe, ist mir wieder ein weiterer Fall von KI-Zensur aufgefallen.

Copilot weigert sich auf Suchanfragen zu Trump oder auch Biden zu antworten.

Wenn man nach "Trump at the Libertarian National Congress" sucht, würde ich mir erwarten, dass die KI einfach die Newsbeiträge dazu zusammenfasst, dass Trump dort war etc.

Stattdessen blockiert die KI die Antwort komplett. Fairerweise werden auch Anfragen zu Biden nicht beantwortet.

Denke, dass die Zensur mit den US-Wahlen zusammenhängt. Zu befürchten ist, dass es auch eine ähnliche Zensur auf Social Media gibt. Dass Themen zu den Wahlen gemutet werden etc.

Instagram/Threads hat in diese Richtung vor kurzem eine Ankündigung gemacht, dass politische Inhalte nicht mehr in dem Umfang ausgespielt werden. Shadow-Ban.

Eigentlich schon ziemlich hinterlistig.

Was sagt ihr dazu? Denkt ihr, dass es ok ist, politische Anfragen derart zu zensurieren oder schießen die Plattformen über das Ziel hinaus?

Copilot started to block "political" topics before the elections. The query was "Trmp at the Libertarian National Congress" (without the typo copilot is disabled right away).

As I was searching for Trump's speech on Bing yesterday, I noticed another case of AI censorship.

Copilot refuses to respond to search queries about Trump or even Biden.

If you search for “Trump at the Libertarian National Congress”, I would expect the AI to simply summarize the news articles that Trump was there, etc. Instead, the AI refuses to answer.

Instead, the AI blocks the answer completely. To be fair, queries about Biden are not answered either.

I think the censorship is related to the US elections. It is to be feared that there is also similar censorship going on on social media. That topics about the elections are muted, shadow-banned etc.

Instagram/Threads recently announced that political content will no longer be played out to the same extent as before.

Quite sneaky in fact.

Do you think it's okay to censor political requests in this way or are the platforms overstepping the mark?

Schlimm. Aber das ist ja Kindergarten im Vergleich zu dem, was sich bez. Zensur in ÖRR in unserem nördlichen Nachbarland abspielt. Da singen ein paar Besoffene "Ausländer raus" (was keine Straftat ist) und werden unverpixelt und mit Namen gezeigt und prompt entlassen, sogar exmatrikuliert, während man Kalifat fordern und "Deutschland abschaffen" völlig unbehelligt machen kann, und Messermörder mit schwarzem Balken gezeigt werden. Das ist DDR 3.0, übelste Gesinnungsjustiz, da kommt kein läppisches KI-Filter mit.

I could understand these AI are blocking it as they probably don't know exactly where all the info is taken from to produce its answer. To avoid any legal claims, it's probably easier to just block..

I'd prefer that there was no censorship. Of course illegal things should be remove but this is not the case.
